push the curve challenge...(aerospace fighter)
« on: 14 September 2022, 13:10:53 »
Okay, guys break out  your inner munchkin.

Rules: Whatever you can cram on, but you only get 10  Heat Sinks.

That is to say, 10 Single heat sinks.

that's all the heat you can sink for this.  Build the nastiest build you can come up with, with an organic heat-sink capacity of 10.
"If you have to ask permission, then it's no longer a Right, it has been turned into a Privilege-something that can be and will be taken from you when convenient."

Given the low heat of Gauss Rifles, the choice was obvious.

100 tons, 5/8 thrust, XL engine, 15 tons of F-A armor, 6.5 tons fuel, 4 Gauss Rifles, 16 shots per Gauss Rifle, with a Targeting Computer to make the GR even more accurate.

Couldn't figure out what items were the most expensive as the 0.48.0 MML Cost breakdown still brings up a BV analysis screen.

I will bring you a 100 tonner fast dogfighter/bomber. Although it can't do anything beyond the short range bracket, but it ensures that it remove the target as well as able to withstand enough punishment before it reaches to the target. Its heavy tonnage is also a factor that allows to use the anti-air missiles to engage the farther enemy instead.

It uses twelve pulse lasers, 4 medium and 8 small, and all the lasers are supported by laser insulator means it generates 20 heat points per an alpha strike. This is suppressed by a Radical Heat Sink System, allows to sustain 20 heats each two turns. Since its range is short, it just needs to alpha strike when it have an opportunity.

If mixed tech is available, spamming Micro Pulse Laser would be fun as well, although you can't mix it with the laser insulator(It have really no meaing since Micro Pulse Laser only generates 1 heat point) but it has same stats with Small Pulse Laser.

RHS are allowed? ???

That said, if you're only generating 4 heat, where are the two Medium Lasers to soak up the other six? ???

Perhaps. Technically RHS is not the heat sink(single/double/compact/etc) so I think that it is fine. It's basically a reusable coolant pod as well.

And the math is, 4 medium pulse lasers - (4-1)×4=12 heat, and 8 small pulse lasers - (2-1)×8= 8 heat.

I wanted more fuel and armor on mine so it could last long enough to run out of ammo

thank you, the SRM is rear firing to cover its back, but it can carry one hell of a bomb load when coming from orbit, and once it drops down to one it can get back to orbit, (if i'm remembering the rules right)

10 small lasers and a bomb bay? What can you do with a 33t bomb bay?

Apparently my version of MML doesn't have bomb bays so 5/8 SFE, 30t armor, 10t fuel, 33t bombs, 10 small las(2 rear), 5.5mil

eta- yeah, 100t ASF.

Voila!

Mind you, this is not an attack bird.  This is a 35-ton, extended duration (w/drop tanks) bomb-bay equipped, ballistic rocket-powered penetrator - something for your particular fiction.

I considered using a DOS, but decided against it for fluff reasons.

Start with Eisensturm-R3.
Change 11-DHS to 10-SHS
Drop Twin LLs
Add 11 tons of Armor/Fuel/Gauss Ammo in any manner you desire.

Hmm. Maybe a Seydlitz that trades the large laser for a pair of meds, 4 small lasers and a TC?

Or just go four medium lasers and a TC?

Or here’s a possible version:

Give it a 200XL engine (thrust now 8/12), 3.5 tons of clan ferro armor (should more than double the armor), and then arm it with a Clan Large Pulse Laser. Call it the Seydlitz IIC.
