So someone asked for a Maxium Battleship

So there was a challenge in the SpaceBattles battletech thread to create "The Maximum Battleship" i had to ask what a "Maximum Battleship" and was told it was basically the idea of taking all the most battleship stuff, all the new stuff, and stuff it into a hull for combat. So i gave it a shot, then i took the feedback on that and did it again, repeat that cycle one more time and i got the following:

The Maximum class battleship comes capable of fielding its own small fleet of escorts or a sizeable invasion force of four dropships. Internally it carries one squadron of aerospace fighters and another of assault class dropshuttles for the battleships integral battle armor marine boarding parties. 1% of total mass was kept as straight cargo to provide food, spares and extra ammunition storage while Lithium Fusion Batteries and 15 thousand tons of fuel allow both tactical and strategic flexibility. The ship mounts 7500 tons of Ferro Lamellor-carbide armor and while the aft arc of the ship has the least coverage, it also has the most weapons in the arc. What the ship lacks however is a decisive punch in any arc of fire, but has both the speed and armor to endure most any firefight, allowing it to endure to a point where its own weapons can win the day.
Wolf wins every fight but one, and in that one he dies, his fangs locked on the throat of his opponent.

The primary difficulty with the battleship concept in BT is the same as in real life---aerospace fighters can easily win the day.  This is most obviously true when ASF use antiship missiles from internal cargo bays.  About 967=(1300+150)*2/3 antiship missiles each doing 3 capital damage each would do the job.   You need to penetrate the LAMS, which expend 70 heat/missile, so we are at about 1250 missiles needed.  An internal bomb bay can release 6 bombs so a Thera's ASF swarm (216 ASF) can load and carry sufficient antiship missiles.

This doesn't take into account a miss chance or the additional weapons that an ASF fighter may carry.  I expect these effects to cancel each other out.

Lagrange is right: ASF are kinda king ironically enough.

However: not a bad ship. A couple of things though. The armament is nice but the cap launchers could switch to fewer AR-10’s and mix some Barracuda missiles to n there for anti-aircraft. You can probably ditch some of the NAC-35’s (or some of the bigger arrayed weapons) and add more cargo, fighters, DS collars, and BA or regular marines. Those things you can’t really skip on such a large ship UNLESS it’s operating as part of an SLDF-style task force with support ships. I’ve been advised that general all around firepower is a bad thing (I believe otherwise but to be fair I’ve actually never played an Aerotech game so I really can’t say) because of certain overlapping angles and acceleration/maneuvering angles and whatnot.

That being said that’s my two cents
