The General War, a preview of things to come.
« on: 10 September 2022, 02:32:26 »
Hah, bet you thought I dropped this project or got distracted by something shiny, didn't you?

Anyway, here's link to a compiled set of record sheets for every design I've gathered together for this setting. Including stuff I made, submissions that have been accepted into the project, and stuff mined from the old naval archive.

There's nothing but record sheets, the organization makes no sense without context and will probably be heavily reorganized, and it's a general mess, but it's most of the designs that are going to appear in the final product.

In addition to record sheets, my intention for the book is a general house by house overview of their current fleet strength and intentions, as well as TRO entries for the new ships, and brief notes on those canon ships that were tweaked to fit with the continuity (and not even my continuity really. Just getting them to fit with the availability tables in IO).

So yeah, that's what I'm working on.
Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

Can't wait to see more of this AU.

Mind if I use some of these? I'm in the market for Age of War and early Star League Space Craft.

So about how far off the stations of canon is this going to end up?

And there's probably more to come. I know there's at least one ship that still needs to be designed.

Feel free!

So about how far off the stations of canon is this going to end up?

Things are mostly normal until about 2556, when Terrence Liao zigs instead of zagging and inadvertently torpedoes the Star League before it could form (and also accidentally kills the Free Worlds League leader that was actually willing to talk peace).

The setting more or less starts up around 2580, twenty four years after Terrence Liao's big oopsie and three years after the Taurian Concordat beat the Federated Suns in the Malagrotta War. So it's pretty far off the rails already.

Liam's Ghost can you please post a link to the setting itself?

I note that the Switchblade, the fighter-of-choice of Apollonian Anarchist Collectives, does not appear in this document.  This is statist oppression, and I will be filing a grievance with the appropriate committees and see you blacklisted for this  :D

At the moment the setting is more or less spread out among multiple posts, but I'll try to get a collection of links together tonight.

Purely a clerical oversight, please ignore the Terran Hegemony agent handing me a check behind the curtain.

(yeah, somehow I forgot that one)

Good luck finding the proper committee, without advance knowledge of the art of Bureaucracy.  But because I am a sporting man I will direct you toward someone who can help you Humphrey Appleby, if he can't no one can.

Pah, he doesn't have the stomach to survive the cut and thrust and politics of real Council Communism.  To worried about his re-election rather than true Vanguardism.  Only the AACC (Apollonian Anarchist Collectives Councils) Can lead the periphery into true LEFTISM.

...they're a bunch of college professors and students, but they have a very impressive R&D system for obvious reasons and a very flexible infrastructure program for reasons that are a bit more confusing to outsiders.  One of their leaders is actually a Terran noblewoman who flipped sides and is now a VERY VOCAL supporter, to the extent that there are probably special forces being sent specifically to stuff her into a bodybag. Then they ship her back to her father with an apology sir, but it seems your daughter was killed by her hostage takers using 40 shots from our spec-ops infantry laser which they obviously stole, right before we could rescue her.

Humphrey Appleby, never worried about reelection as he was a civil servant and a true master Bureaucracy.   Someone you might need to find the proper committee to file your grievance with.

Oh um, no, he'd just...die from all the change and upheval.  Like, it would literally kill him with a heart attack now, yeah, I had him mixed up with the actual minister.
