updated Aquila warship carrier- For By the Horns

been working on this and while i still haven't gotten any better armor, (which surprisingly isn't effected by date) was able to put capital weapons on this. It is still primarily loaded with standard weapons for anti-fighter work but twelve capship missile launchers and sixteen naval lasers give the ship a bit more punch. and still runs cold

I'm surprised that the thrust hasn't been upgraded to 2/3.
I seem to recall that the original engines were primitive and inefficient, weighing 50-100% more than a comparable modern engine.

I think it would depend on in the fluff is this was a new build or a refit. A refit might just see it not being worth the time and trouble to build new engines and install them.  Even a 2/3 drive is pretty much slower than anything else and for long-range transits, not that much better than the 1/2.

this is a refit, which is why i didn't just rebuild it at 100ktons as a standard warship to be able to get the armor upgrade as well. In the story, the Taurians were able to track down the exile fleet that had left at the end of the reunification war, and a comment was made about upgrades. This is the results

It might not be easy to add a jumpsail to one of the old primitive cores depending on how they interface with the core.  Besides there's a point where slavish adherence to rules is a fault.  If you can charge the core in the standard amount of time at the standard jump point with a solar sail that's 1km or under in diameter that means the actual amount of power to jump is negligible.  I did the calculations several years back and jumpsails at the standard distance from Earth are only pulling in like 10MW at max assuming 100% efficiency in EVERYTHING.  A jumpcore apparently requires less electricity than a small laser would, who knew.  Either way with that established there's no reason to do anything but ignore the book rule on fuel consumption to recharge and handwave it because compared to the rest of the power requirements of a jumpship charging the core is mere background noise in the service load.

personally i feel that with modern/standard they pretty much shut down the fusion engines (To maintenance levels anyway) and run their systems off of the jump sail. As SlightlyIrritatedCat said adding a jumpsail is not likely a trivial thing.

but not at the anti-fighter scale, this is more anti-fighter coverage than it is anti-ship
