Best way to use Multiple Attack Rolls and Weapon Specialist SPA

Is there an official rule or a recommended house rule on how to combine the optional Multiple Attack Rolls rule and the Weapon specialist SPA (50% damage for attack rolls that missed by 1).  My reading is that if you follow the rule as written, the Weapon Specialist drops the to-hit number by 1, but if you follow the intent of the rule that leave some options as to how to calculate 50% of the damage.  Wondering is there is a official way to do this, or should we be house ruling it.

I just started reading the Alpha Strike book and I am wondering the same thing. In addition to Weapon Specialist, the multiple attack rolls method doesn't seem to work with the Float Like a Butterfly or Lucky SPA. Also, the Marksman and Sharpshooter seem kind of gamey with this.

I know you're supposed to work things out with your opponent, and that's fine, but I would really like to know how these were intended to be played.
