Mission balancing
« on: 01 August 2021, 20:08:54 »
Hi everyone,

I’m working on a mission scenario and need some help figuring out how to balance the game. I’m the proud new owner of some beautiful structures.

The concept is simple, a serious of buildings (science research outpost) say 10 buildings in total, is to be destroyed by the attacking side, the defender must well, defend them.

In Alpha Strike, how does one determine a fair balance, if both sides enter with the same PV, then the attacking side is at a clear disadvantage. I think this also plays a part in convoy escort missions.

I’d be very curious to here how others like to balance asymmetrical objective games like this.

Thanks!

I know on the YouTubes DFA wargaming had a video on how they made their own mission pack. They mentioned they generally tried to avoid asymmetrical objectives, outside of a few.

Your best bet is trial and error. I know in the DFA escort mission they went thru multiple iterations of how much damage a convoy vee could take before it was destroyed.

I’ll check that out thanks. I figure it’s trial and error, perhaps 25% more PV on the attacking side is a good place to start.
