ECM in AS - doesn't do much?
« on: 13 September 2021, 06:00:43 »
Hello,

My group and I have recently progressed beyond the Third Succession wars and into the Clan Invasion era.

We're starting to encounter more specials, including ECM.

We play with the Concealing Unit Data rules per AS:CE.

As I understand the RAW, ECM only really has an impact in two very specific situations:
1. when visual spotting range is low and the enemy are trying to reveal your units with PRB or similar.
2. when you are using C3

I don't know what ECM looks like in CBT, which I don't play, so I can't compare.

Am I missing something? It seems a bit underwhelming.

As of that early in the timeline, ECM only counters Active Probes, NARC, Artemis, and C3, if memory serves.

With the caveat that an enemy Active Probe would know that it is being jammed from *somewhere*.

Interesting! Thanks.
