Title: Upcoming AS Ground Formations

I am very excited about the near future for Alpha Strike. We are getting an upcoming Box Set, future Force Packs, and new updated Force Manuals...and a Kickstarter  :D  CM: Mercenaries and Kurita introduced new Formation Types, and reading Campaign Operations there are a few more to be seen.

It looks like we will be introduced to the Hunter Lance via the ELH Force Pack...and I am digging what I've read in CO:

I really want to get this on a table soon. I've played mostly Command, Fire, Striker, and Pursuit lances (500PV games).

Outside of Formation Types that have already been published in AS:CE, what other lance types have you played with? Or what upcoming lance formations are you looking toward trying out?

I find the idea of a Light Fire Lance/Star/Level II very intriguing  >:D

Definitely looking forward to being able to run Hunter formations. It long bothered me that Alpha Strike introduced the whole concept of Roles and Formation rules to Battletech, but they had an entire Role with no role in the game.

I'm looking forward to new unit types as well.

Please tell me that 'Coordinated Fire-Support' isn't real. Concentrated fire is already bad enough. If anything I am really hoping that they will have new Zell rules that will make sticking to Zell worthwhile.

I recently got to try out the Light Fire Lance......It is very fun  >:D

Light Fire Lance
Bushwacker BSW-X4
Valkyrie VLK-QDD
Commando COM-9S
Locust LCT-7V2

I was able to maneuver and position the lance in a manner that it felt like a group of X-wings making a trench run on the Death Star :) Now...by the end of the turn I only had two 'Mechs left (and the Valkyrie having to go into Forced Retreat)....but yes..."STAY ON TARGET!!!!"

Zell is and has always been a deliberately and knowingly inflicted handicap, why would it ever have an advantage associated with it? ???

That way Charlie Tango can use his Nova Cats to expand the Coordinator's realm with a bit of spilt purple blood...

Actually, it's a fluff thing clanners would want to use. I mean give Zell a ruleset, break it your side would be hampered with negative. If both sides break it, then both sides suffer from the same. But if you didn't break Zell and won, you get to add more PV to your next game via Campaign.

The Rifle Lance was in Turning Points Vega and a new Steiner Lance was the guard Lance, which got rules for both Battletech and Alpha Strike.

Well its for the "Light" Fire Lance, so when its a Lance of Valkyries its not exactly painful.

Now, if a Lance of LONGBOWS suddenly got that ability we have an issue.

Exactly my thoughts.
If you want Zell to have some form of an "advantage" in the game give your clanners Blood Stalker SPA.
Thematically it makes sense, still gives them something of an advantage on target and gives the dirty players a chance to survive as well, especially if said dirty players were Inner Sphere.
