When building formations under the Alpha Strike Companion rules, and using C3, do the formations have to correspond directly with the C3 network configuration?
For example, could the "blue lance" of a C3 network (of say Configuration 1 on page 50 of Alpha Strike rules) correspond to say 1 member of the command lance, 2 members of a fire lance, and 1 member of the recon lance in a company formation containing a command, fire, and recon lance?
Or, is it necessary for the formations and C3 configuration to correspond, for example fire lance is the blue lance, command lance is the yellow lance, and recon lance is the red lance?
If the Alpha Strike formations & C3 network configuration must correspond, I can see situations where the two are not compatible arising. For example, you could not have a company sized C3 network with a light recon lance as a check of the MUL revealed no mechs under 40 tons with C3M.
