on Page 143 of the Commander's Edition, it states:
In gameplay, an attacking player who wishes to use specialty
munitions need only declare that his attack will make use of its
alternative ammunition (and what type of alternate ammunition it
is). The player then rolls for a weapons attack as normal, using the
base range and damage values for the special ability that works
with the unit’s alternate munitions. If the attack is successful, adjust
the ability’s normal damage values and other special effects as
appropriate to the rules for the specialty ammo type used.
Note that an attack using specialty munitions replaces the
unit’s normal attack values for its requisite special ability. Unless
otherwise noted, use of alternate munitions does not provide
the unit with an extra bonus attack, but will modify the standard
weapon attacks of the unit accordingly.
but this doesn't state whether this is an all or nothing attack.
For instance the Timber Wolf S's card shows it has an SRM 3/3:

But if the Mad Cat wishes to attack with Inferno Missiles, must it swap out the full 3 to then do 3 DAM and 3 HT (with 1 HT then lost due to the rules under INFERNO missiles, or could a player instead opt to only replace 1 or 2 points of the SRM 3 value to HT instead?
