What happened to the Moon?
« on: 22 April 2021, 20:59:32 »
I can't find any information about the Moon on Sarna.net. It says that it exists, being the only moon of Terra but there is no information on it outside of that.

It seems kinda odd that it seems to have no place in BT lore. I mean we have colonized planets hundreds of light years from Earth but we completely ignored our own moon? Seems like there is too much military potential for it to be ignored by Stefan Amaris and General Kerensky.

So what happened to the Moon?

See Jihad Hot Spots: Terra, pp158-9 for a write-up circa 3078 or so.

And remember, Sarna is not the be-all, end-all of BattleTech information.

It was a popular dumping group for Terran Hegemony bureaucrats and, up to the Jihad, was a popular tourist destination for Terrans. As noted in Jihad Hotspots: Terra, the Terran system is one of the most heavily developed systems in human space, with colonies on or at Mercury, Mars, the asteroid belt, Jupiter trojan asteroids, Saturn (Titan), Kuiper Belt, and Oort Cloud.

Venus used to be inhabitable, but ComStar let maintenance of its terraformed condition lapse and it is turning into a super-hell as its oceans boil off.
