A variant of the Asterion (Upgrade) that I came up with a while back when I thought that it was odd that the Taurians, as the IS-tech developer of the space ops system, had never developed a marine suit.

The lack of jump jets means that it's dead in space if dropped off in zero-G, but if delivered to the target vessel or base by boarding shuttle, it'll be able to move down the corridors well enough. Both the Recoilless and Flamer configurations have a Marine Point Value of 6 points, while the PPC configuration is only 5 points.

==Overview:==
     With a long history of space marine warfare and as the
developer of the Inner Sphere's Space Operations Adaptation, it
was inevitable that the Taurian Concordat would eventually
introduce their own marine Battle Armor.

     The Asterion (Space) design process was not been without its
problems as Taurus Territorial Industries struggled to adapt the
chassis to space operations and also add jump jets for full EVA
capabilties. With the project falling far behind schedule, the TDF
ordered the company to proceed with a cutdown version intended
purely for boarding actions, with limited free space capability.

     Within a few months TTI had produced a viable design and even
recouped some of their costs by also coming up with a slightly
modified version that quickly entered service as the Asterion
(Upgrade).

==Capabilities:==
     By switching to the newly acquired Advanced armor composites,
TTI were able to retain most of the original Asterion's level of
protection while adding more equipment and upgrading the
manipulators.

     Now equipped with a pair of vibro-claws, the Asterion (Space)
is a formidable close quarters fighter and is well capable of
slicing through bulkheads and other obstructions during boarding
actions. The original modular weapon mount is retained, along with
an anti-personnel weapon rail that has been added to the right
arm, allowing the trooper to use more finesse when required.

==Variants:==
     TTI have continued to develop the design in an attempt the
add the sought after EVA capability. Progress remains slow but
steady and reports are hopeful that a design might eventually be
available. The latest prototype lightens the current drive system,
removing more than half the myomers in the legs to enable jump
jets to be added. This design's payload is much more limited, with
the largest weapon possible now a light version of the standard
model's recoilles rifle, but it does otherwise meet the TDF's
required specifications.
