[insert boilerman signal here]
« on: 06 June 2020, 15:00:00 »
So: I've sused out how on the Esteemed Gentleman's Spreadsheet he made the stats for MRMs equal to the "full-sized" LAW.  :blank:

This dissatisfies me, as I was expecting … :-\  warmer garbage stats? A "base range" of four, but a flat plus-two penalty to-hit?

Perhaps I'm missing a reference of somekind?

Stats for LAW and MRM Launcher come straight from TechManual.

If you're looking for something better than a LAW, you might want to check out the Sniper Rifles TPTB just published in Shrapnel #1...

I'm having trouble reconciling a medium range of 300m to the "base range" of two.

After that, the single-tub/ one-shot description doesn't match the "overwhelming unguided spam" nature of the source material …

TW ranges are derived from the SHORT range of infantry scale weapons, and nothing else (sadly)...

Correct, it's a formula in TW.

And appreciate the clarification, I'm less then satisfied by it. :-[

So what would make the infantry MRM more interesting, if not exactly more effective?

… Maybe part of the problem is "I know how to get pretty good medium pulse infantry out of this system:" MRM infantry? Not so much …

If it's range you're after, Sniper Rifles are the simplest answer (from Shrapnel #1)...

Wherever issues those are hidden. xp

But even scrounging it up, how does the given stats make for a worthwhile weapon? Maybe it's not expensive, by somebodies standard, but it is a glorified LAW.

The next quistion would be what to change them to: Four "base" range, two missiles thrown in a single salvo?

What I said in my first post here... "If it's range you're after".  If it's not, carry on.

Well, that would explain it, since I wasn't on the KS.

Ah, sorry... I figured you were a backer, given your activity here.  It will be available for purchase "soon", I believe...

:bang: Soooo like I was saying:

I've got it in my head to fudge up replacement stats; I'm thinking along the lines of "two-point penalty to to-hit," "two missiles in the launcher, both thrown with one pull of the trigger," and "base range of four."

I should hope the BV would move, but how about perches price?

What else should I be thinking of? :-\

The original man-portable SRM launcher was a two-shot. Start there.

I had. :D But a total of four missiles seems just too-too for something I hope to be man-portable.

Maybe I'm derping SRM Infantry stats? :(

Boilerman: FYSA, I asked a rules question a while back about A-V ordnance, and it also counts as having a "splash" effect for purposes of the conversion, so your second worksheet is the most relevant.
