Overview
The origin of this particular Configuration of the Dire Wolf was through a series of Darwinian trials in the simulators by a single sibko graduate. Test time and again to be an Apex, Battlefield Predator, the configuration was designed to hunt from afar or up close with equal amounts of devastating firepower for any enemies it faces, regardless of mass or speed. Much like its predecessors, which the Great Houses labeled "The Ultimate Assault Mech", the Andrewsarchus is able to wade through nearly any enemy force and come out on top.

Indeed the name Anrewsarchus - the largest wolf, nay even THE largest land, mammalian predator to ever exist, has been chosen purposely. The beast it was named after was the ancestor of whales - Orca and Blue Whale alike. It is considered the only large predatory land mammal able to contend with the 'Flat-Faced Bear' of prehistoric North America. Andrewsarchus however lived in Africa, back when the Sahara Desert was an ancient, shallow, quasi-fresh-water sea. Once when one asked who would win in a fight, an Andrewsarchus or a Flat-Faced Bear, both formidable hunters, it was stated "there is no getting past that mouth. " Indeed the jaws of an Andrewsarchus could be three to four feet long, putting it on the same level as ancient dinosaurs. Indeed this Mech has a bite which reminds the enemy of their mortality immediately. It is meant not just to fight on the battlefield, but to hunt , chewing through enemies quickly, in accordance with THE truest nature of zellbrigen, as it saves on the most precious resource of all warriors during battle - time.

Capabilities:

The Andrewsarchus will commence nearly all engagements, save for those against the most foolhardy, with twin fires from its ER PPCs, in the hopes of crippling smaller opponents, supporting other trothkin, decapitating opponents at range or merely slogging off armor. While technically doing only 60-75% of the damage of a Dire Wolf Prime (at range), the more concentrated nature of this damage - and the lower heat generation of the long-range attack, seem to more then make up for the loss of overall damage.

If the enemy is foolish enough to close range, or just unlucky, due either to poor LOS, the fact that it is a pitched battle or because the ER PPCs or other factors slowed the target down enough for the lumbering, Apex Predator to close ranks, the enemy will soon find itself engulfed by a massive rack of 6 SRM-6 Streak Missile Launchers - nearly the equivalent of what can be fielded by an SRM Carrier. with a massive 5 tons of ammo (75 shots) none of which will be wasted.

3 Jump Jets afford the Mech maneuverability unexpected for a Dire Wolf, as well as affording the Mech a chance to escape traps or navigate particularly rough terrain.

A single Heavy Flamer rounds out the weaponry, more for aesthetic reasons then functional, as it makes it so the Mech uses the maximum allotted weight and space available - meaning nothing is wasted at all - in the True Nature of the Clans.

History:
Exclusively designed and piloted by Veronica Ward, a Trueborn Wolf known for her short size, raven-dark hair, violet eyes and "overly shapely body for a Clan Warrior", many consider the configuration something of an over-compensation for the otherwise physically inept (in hand to hand combat) Mechwarrior. It is perhaps for this reason Veronica basically lived inside of simulations - both designing and piloting the Mech of her choice until she found something she considered perfect for her desires.

Regardless, the four times this Mech has been in the field - during the Battle for Terra, and minor Wolf Empire skirmishes, it has been utterly devastating to opponents. Raking in 13 kills of Mechs and vehicles outright, the Configuration seems more then able to justify its existence on the Battlefield. As Veronica has herself stated "My Andrewsarchus is Case Belle Incarnate!" A just-war-in-itself.

There are rumors, that Veronica is a cryptic Elstar, created by the Scientist Caste to test their extreme genetic designs without prejudice. The fact that the Mechwarrior, despite her small frame and seemingly frail physique can endure almost 25% more heat then the standard Mechwarrior, and seems to have reflexes and intuition to match, along with a bloodlust that seems inhumane in the battlefield seems to confirm this. Of course, without advanced genetic screening the truth of this cannot be known save for a member of the Scientist Caste.

Regardless of this, there is no denying the actual results. Not only does Veronica and her Andrewsarchus win - but the wins come quickly and easily, with minimal damage and armor lost for the Dire Wolf so configured and pilots. This has lead to Emperor of All, Alaric Ward, supposedly once remarking, upon hearing the rumors: "If this is indeed an Elstar, then despite their abominable nature, I would like a dozen more. "

However such a remark has made the Warrior Caste as a whole hostile. Many Warriors refuse to fight alongside Veronica and her Andrewsarchus. Fewer still wish to challenge her, seeing her abilities and mechs, once mocked, as "unnatural".

Deployment
In 3145, at age 20, old by sibko standards, Veronica was finally able to utilize her designs in the Battle for Hesperus, where it slew 4 Mechs nearly outright. The fact that the Andrewarchus was more or less relegated to Second-Line de facto, abandoned by swifter Star-Mates added to this - as many of Veronica's Star fell and left her weakened opponents to munch on.

During the Battle for Terra, against both the Republic and Jade Falcon Golden Ordos, the Andrewsarchus truly showed the brightness of its colors. No less then 9 Battlemechs/Assault Vehicles fell before its predatory barrage. The fact that Veronica is often abandoned by her Star or Cluster, and left in the backlines has worked to her advantage in this regard - as she often faces weakened opponents who defeated her comrades. Regardless, Veronica has stated more then on one occasion that this means Andrewsarchus lives up to his name-sake, as "the true Apex of a food chain is not large hunters, but large scavengers, who steal prey from smaller predators."

Mechwarrior Pilot Notes: Many have suggested Veronica be bested by a Trial of Position Un-Augmented, which she would surely lose. However superiors have utterly nullified this, once with a quote "We do not pit Aerospace Pilots against Elementals in unarmed combat for obvious reasons. " Some see this as evidence of the Elstar nature of her genetic design, but the fact is, in both simulation and in combat, Veronica is able to attain results.

It is only social ostracism, and an extremely aggressive, anti-social nature (even by Clan standards) which holds the Mechwarrior back, with even rumors of various drug addictions, insomnia, and a willingness to violate Clan Traditions of Honor, via "Stealing Kills" holding her back. The Mechwarrior, and her Mech, are controversial, even amongst the Clans to say the very least. The fact that the Mechwarrior is extremely beautiful, in fact voluptuous past even Inner Sphere standards of beauty adds to this - with resentment built around the power she seems to wield among others - both for her prowess and the ability to capture hearts and minds at a glance.

More then one Warrior has stated she is a "Threat to humanity itself. " The fact that Veronica embraces and flaunts such condemnations proudly hardly helps her position, though this does not prevent others from seeking her out in Coupling, which she almost always rejects (leading to further accusations and social stigmatization) .

Indeed, only the grace of Alaric Ward Himself, vaunted above all among Clan Wolf, seems to save her, as the Khan recognizes martial value when he sees it regardless of popular superstition.

Titan C.

2 ER PPC's
10 MPL's
Active Probe and ECM Suite
3 JJ's
Full Armor

It's a decent enough build, however the wub master Titan C should likely win.

Perhaps. Though I don't see how, given that the Streaks deal more raw damage overall, at greater heat efficiency and will hit both critical locations and the head far more often. Sand-Paper type attacks are not often the most effective against Assault Mechs. Of course, there are always chance elements.

Nothing flashy about this thing, but I like how in a worst case scenario would still be effective against a unit toting around plasma and infernos rounds.
