Interesting design. I imagine it could be very effective in the right circumstances.

The numbers don´t quite add up for me, though. You removed the LRM-10 and ammo, which is 7 tons total, and replaced them with 5 tons of small lasers. What happened to the remaining two tons?

Looks like they went in to Armor.

Yep, armor...  ^-^

12 HS was enough to run and bracket fire. I don't remember ever doing an alpha strike with it.

Overall, it looks quite good.  The ability to run & fire at all ranges out to 18 is great, and a close combat of 10 SLs + 2 punches is pretty convincing = 42 damage is very good.  Adding in jump jets provides great maneuverability where overland movement breaks down.

How did you feel about the SL vs ML choice in practice?    You could do 4 MLs + a heat sink instead.  This would drop your range 2 damage by 1/3, but also reduce the penalty to hit at  range 2 by 2.

My thinking at the time was to replace every LRM tube with a Small Laser.  The GM was quite generous in letting that deception work as often as it did...  ^-^

The funny part, Range 2 is where it gets interesting, where you need to decide if you want a hole punched, or sand-blasting.  The Range Mod is the same there.

Deciding to go with Armor is probably the best idea when you want to get close enough to get those 10 SLasers in to play.

It's been a while, I but I think I usually went with the 10 Smalls at 2-hex range.  A single all or nothing chance didn't track with my luck then (or now, for that matter)...  8)
