Now I wonder how many people would see this and then wonder why this hasn't been around?

As you can see, by dropping the SL and upgrading to CASE, the Lasers can become Extended Ranged later on.

Thanks Daryk!

If you're putting in ER Lasers, you might as well double the heat sinks and add jump jets...

Trying to keep the 3025 - 3055 feel of things. Later in 3060's maybe a -5S upgrade, I can see a Periphery upgrade that could swap the SL for a Medium and drops the arm mounted ones for Rocket Launchers.

I can help you out with some of that missing info there. Assuming this is a mod to a Hunchback 4G, here is the information I have pulled from the Sarna article on the Hunchie:

1)The 4G has a Nissan 200 fusion engine.
2)The chassis is Komiyaba Type VIII.
3)It has Starshield Armor.
4)The comms system is an Omicron 4002 Networking Channel.
5)The default targeting system for the Hunchie 4G is a TRSS Eagle Eye, but I personally would replace that with an O/P GRD059(Mainly because in campaign settings I give it a quirk where it allows for Artillery Pieces to be direct fired within a certain range, but generates 2 points of heat per turn while in this mode due to poor cooling of the system)

Thanks... Honestly, I just threw it together in SSW in about 5 minutes after seeing TrueTanker's request.  When I did my Arturion (which I honestly prefer), I dug out the fluff from the TRO.

I always wondered why, with the myriad of variants even in 3025, we never saw anyone try doing a straight Omni conversion of the Hunchback in canon.

The Mercury was the first quasi-omni built by the SLDF, and since the clans hate wastes, they used It as their basis of the Omni. The Mercury didn't get far as the SW started and the project was shelved and forgotten while the prototypes were used as supplies were exhausted.

I was thinking more in terms of the 3050s, when we started seeing 'Mechs like the Blackjack and Firestarter, among others, turned into Omnis.

In-universe: Because they didn't thrust the DC with the better base designs.
In-RL: The need to make the Blackjack and Firestarter more popular.

Editt: also here is an old Thumpback:

Really?  The Blackjack and Firestarter (or at least their variants) were always popular when I was playing back in college....

I almost never saw them, this might be a poll worthy question.

You'd think artillery mechs would take a PSR roll if firing while moving like an HGR, but so it goes.

Meanwhile I had a little fun with a Jihad-era version of this thing, using the skeleton of an HBK-5S with a standard model engine instead of the LFE.

You'd think artillery mechs would take a PSR roll if firing while moving like an HGR, but so it goes.

Or give a PSR bonus if the Mech is stationary on the turn that it fires?  This would simulate the Mechwarrior stabilizing the Mech so recoil doesn't knock it over.

Larger artillery would require more stationary turns for stabilization, while larger Mechs would reduce that number of turns (to a minimum of being stationary on the firing turn).
