ilClan, Dark Age and Traditional mechs for the Clans
« on: 15 July 2022, 00:31:50 »
Hey all

I am expanding my "secondary" Clans, miniature collections, and painting them the right colours too

Just wondering, what are some "iconic" mechs across "Traditional", Dark Age, and ilClan eras for:

Scopion Empire (Clan Goliath Scorpion)

The Bears, and maybe Ravens

Thanks

Everyone of them got some new mechs via the rec guide series that generally come online mid-republic era or in the dark age.

Ghost bears got a lot of new traditional mechs in the Jihad time because of Wizkiddery. They are actually pretty good. Arcas, Karhu, Bruin. Their old school traditional have made a comeback with the KS/RecGuides. Executioner/Mad Dog (also mk III)/Viper/Fire Moth  :flame:  New Mechs are Mastodon, Rime Otter, and Kontio.

Check the MUL and Rec Guide series and look for unique names. That’ll get you the new wave of mechs for the faction.

Kickstarter
Master Unit List. The MUL is super useful for a faction at a glance stuff, especially once you get some more knowledge

The Falcons got a boatload of new totem mechs (a lot in TRO 3145, 3085 (?) and the RecGuides): Shrike, Jade Phoenix, Ion Sparrow, Heirofalcon, Gyrfalcon, Onager, Eyrie to name a few. Most have either Talons or a Partial Wing, a lot are short range beasts, and some are pretty fast for their size.

The Horses got relatively few new mechs but they did get QuadVee’s: Mechs that shift into tanks instead of aerospace fighters. Got some BA and some tanks too IIRC.

Sea Foxes have been building everything and anything under the sun: from Alaric’s new requests, to Mark II designs of older mechs, to brand new machines. A lot of the RecGuides and TRO 3145 is their stuff.

The Goliath Scorpions are now holed up in the Periphery with their new Imperio and they’ve been making some new machines. RecGuide and the Turning Points set there have some new designs, some IndyMechs and some old designs brought back: check out the Rhino mech it’s ungodly awesome!

The Ravens have a couple new designs: the White Raven and Carrion Crow come to mind (both RecGuides) that are pretty cool.

I know I’ve missed a few.

But the Ghost Bear new mechs are awesome to play, both the new variants of old Omni’s and the newer mechs themselves.

Tyler, where did you get your signature ?

Your faction bar, I have been looking high and low for them, as ages ago there were tons on this site

I also made a thread about it in fan art

Heirofalcon and a variant are made up by IronWindMetals right now, along with the wolf Sojurner and Dominator, and the Raven War Crow.

You can buy the rec guide from the store yes. They are tentatively working on a compilation of all the sheets with no ETA now. Otherwise you’ll have to buy 24 pdfs individually. They are really cool and worth it imo, but they are pdf only if that bothers you. FYI the Karhu is in older books, not the rec guide series

I’d h e to dig back to find the creator, but a talented person in one of the forums had a whole bunch. Can’t remember the name sorry.

For the Rhino: OTO Hanseatic Crusade

A couple of the new mechs have minis from Ironwond Metals, and a couple more are eventually coming, including the Regent in a new Lance Pack for the GDL.

Also ditto what Ker said.

The Regent is getting a metal mini released in the next few months (I'm guessing it will premiere at Gencon).  The plastic version in the Gray Death Legion lancepack won't be coming out for another year.
