What is the opposite of chalcas?
« on: 21 July 2021, 22:01:33 »
I remember there being a Clanner term for all things Clanlike but cannot recall or find it.

Does anyone else know it or am I just misremembering?

I've seen "Kerensky's vision" or "Kerensky's dream" or "the children of Kerensky" thrown around loosely when making statements that speak positively about Clan culture and society. That's about it.

Terms might Seyla and Rede might be seen as Clan-like in what they imply but that's not their actual meaning.

For most of BT history in character dialogue in novels and such, I recall this being just "Clan-like" and "Un-Clan-like." Chalcas technically existed in the glossary of several Clan books but was seldom used until the Wars of Reaving book really applied it everywhere with a broad paint brush. Which I actually thought was pretty cool that they pulled from what already existed.

I always took chalcas as challenge (the) caste (system) . . . which would have been the accusation against the Wolverines.  Which would indeed make following 'Kerensky's vision/ideals/dream' roughly the opposite.  Perhaps the 'way of the Clans' would also work.

Chalcas is compound.   It means "challenging the caste system".

The opposite is simply a good clanner.

Unity.  See my sig.
