With the trickle-down effect of Clan salvage and IS newtech entering the black market, and the downfall of FTL comms allowing pirates to better escape notice, the quality of pirate equipment around the occupation zones took an unexpected turn for the better. In the hodgepodge forces that escaped the Clan purges, you could expect to see anything from a bog-standard Scorpion to aggregates of tech that challenged the best the Clans or Great Houses could field - sometimes in the same lance.
This hodgepodge, built on the classic Po, is part of a raiding force known only as "Black's Hammers", and is still at large. In armament, it copies the Manticore's main cannon + SRM + LRM combination, and has been crafted to resemble one from a distance. The first eyewitnesses were startled to discover the 'PPC' was a Gauss Rifle, most likely Clan salvage, as the turret of the base tank traversed with more ease than if an Inner Sphere Gauss or the HVAC10 had been used. The long-range missile pack is also unusual, being bulkier than the equivalent Clan packs, but capable of accurate fire at shorter ranges than all but the still-rare Enhanced LRM. The SRM and anti-personnel gauss are characteristically Clan-tech. It retains the fuel-cell engine of the HV model.
Spectra of energy weapon impacts indicate a different armour composition to most marques of ferro-fibrous armour, but the bulk of the plates points to Heavy Ferro. The non-patchwork nature might be a sign the techs have found a source willing to fabricate custom plates. Due to the apparent skill level of the crew, and the fact they are the supposed lance leader for the other standard Pos in their pirate band, the threat level has been set to 'Moderate'.
