Since there apparently isn't one. I decided to try and make it different by boosting the speed, but I'm not sure the firepower reduction is worth it.

I suspect the SLDF would have gone for the slow one... that's some pretty sweet firepower there!

I like both of these, they're big, blocky and packed with firepower. What I can't do is pick between them. On one hand, speed to keep up with the faster vehicles e.g. Thor. It also helps with motive crits. On the other hand, a lot of the SLDF vees were standardised on 4/6. Either way, it can act as a bodyguard for artillery pieces or LRM carriers, extra punch for a 'mech lance and all that other good stuff.

I like the 5/8 one quite a bit, as it has the best character.  The manticore was a premier but expensive tank in 3025 level play, compared to the bulldog or 3030 Po.  This is a premier but expensive tank for 2750, able to run rings around a 'normal' manticore.  The manticore facility was controlled by Amaris during the civil war, so small numbers of royal manticores of the SLDF versus more numerous 'block 1' manticores of the Amaris forces would be a much cooler fight with the 5/8 Manticore version.  My only change would be a version prototyping the snub nose PPC seen late war, as the partikill on the manticore was always kinda like the first snub nose PPC.

Didn't think of the Snubbie...

If the 5/8 version switches to a SNPPC it saves 6 tons. That's enough for the 4/6 version's missile battery and 11 tons armor. Pretty nasty.

I like this a lot, well done. Tbh, I assumed the difference between the two was supposed to be an intentional prelude to the two different versions of the Axel IIC.

It’s nice that people like them. No canon royal Manticore seems like a major oversight.

As for making two versions I just wanted to see how much better the firepower would be with the smaller engine.

I would go with the 4/6 Version. Kinda what I did myself to the Manticore (and in portion to my own Manticore IIC Version) to increase its Firepower.
