Wakya J-WIGE retake
« on: 07 December 2020, 16:22:06 »
Explanation
Update of an old design of mine. Dropping from high altitude with a squad of BA it can glide at high speed towards its target. When reached it can dance around with its long jump range throwing 60 damage of SRMs per per turn, until its time to move of when the BA needs to reach a new area.

Fluff
The Stone Lion Clan scientist caste were looking for a flagship program, something to show that they were the masters vehicle designers by outdoing the spheroid Hell’s Horses.

In 3085 they got hold of a Hephaestus jump tank from their rivals, they knew what they would out design…

The program that followed was neither quick nor easy. It was quickly decided that the program would develop a jumping omni vehicle for deploying battle armor.
The next step was slower, early on it was identified that a WiGE vehicle might better starting point rather than traditional hover tank chassis. But it took a lengthened rapid prototyping phase, testing mules against the Hephaestus, before the unusual motive type had acquired enough supporters to gain a go ahead for final development.

Clan Stone lion were the keepers of some of the research from the society, and delving into vehicle stealth armor data proved fruitful, and with battle armor stealth having being acquired by the clan during its formative trials it was decided that the WiGE should also incorporate signature reduction technology.
The weapon suit was relatively simple compared to the rest of the design, being inspired by the ubiquitous SRM and LRM carries
The result is a remarkable combat vehicle, a sleek low-profile flying tank with a good top speed and excellent jumping maneuverability. Managing to match or even exceed a frontline mech in performance (and cost).

Referred to as a Jumping Wing in Ground Effect tank or by the shorthand J-WiGE
The biggest limiting factor for this “new class” of vehicle is heat-soaking of the Wakyą engines especially when utilizing the jump jets allot. With heavy use the vehicle starts becoming harder to control eventually leading to reduced engine output. (fluffy explanation for how light motive damage builds up under really heavy use of the jump jets...)

Any IDEAS for other loadouts?
How do you think it would fare against mechs?

First LB10X rifleman with anti air fire control is looking at -4 in flack mode any motive crit which you only reduced the bonus to +2 with armored motive systems.  It maybe reduced to a jumping unit by the first or second motive crit . May be better off with hardend armor and armored motive crit and use the ECM on ghost targeting which works at short range . It completely eliminates the +4 motive crit bonus that comes with using a WiGE in the first place .

Against LBXs and flak ammo, I normally use LRMs units with smoke rounds. In this way, your fast units can get close to enemy mechs
