Lucky Charms returns for another year, rewards are cockpit item at 50 lootbags, 50 and then 100 GSP at 100 and 150 loot bags, and 1000 MC each at 200 and 300.

I’m gonna see about accruing MC from loot bags after the 2k have been acquired, and hopefully get Protector before the sale ends.

I wanna rebuild it into how General Kerensky actually had his Orion. Maybe with a couple of upgrades that didn’t exist in his time.

If I can’t get enough MC before the sale ends, I’m probably going to spend that MC on stuff for my Black Watch ‘Mechs.

If you really want "Protector", then buy it, of course. But "Protector" is a mediocre 'Mech, as all Orions are.

Probably it is good enough for T5 or T4, but if you plan to leave those Tiers ... Well, "Protector" will lose some of its viability.

Yeah, I know it's not exactly meta material. That's not the point. I like using stock/canon 'Mechs.

It's nice when a stock or otherwise canon configuration is viable for high level play, but I don't need it to be. Seeing as I'm down in T5 and probably will be for some time, I'm more concerned about my fundamentals than I am about what my ’Mech is capable of relative to what everyone else is using.

Keep in mind, I'm the guy who went out of his way to build and run an Atlas II HT out of an Atlas D just because he could. I even gave it an extra heat sink because free CASE gave me tonnage for it where it otherwise wouldn't have. lol

When piloting "Protector", just make sure that you are not the first 'Mech that the enemy team sees.

For a Mech named "Protector", it's really bad at doing that.

It helps to consider the context of the build itself. The name is not indicative of its combat role. It’s a 3040s take on General Kerensky’s ON1-K Orion; he likely wasn’t doing a whole lot of bodyblocking either. He was a “protector” in a different way, or at least, that’s how those who remember him and the SLDF within the Inner Sphere remembered them.

Of course, to reproduce his actual build in MWO, you need the Protector (its stock configuration and very existence being apocryphal at best) and not an actual ON1-K, because of how hardpoints work. lol

Gonna give my “ON1-K Kerensky” build – albeit with ER Mediums instead of regular Mediums, because those didn’t exist when Kerensky was alive or he probably would have used them too, plus a half-ton of additional Gauss ammo because IS CASE is free – a field test tonight after work. Naturally, I based the camospec on Kerensky’s Orion art in the BattleTech Legends artbook.

Well, first game with the thing didn't go terribly. I died, but I took at least one enemy down with me before maiming a few others, and my team won. I'll call it a success.
