MW5 twitter is dropping sliced up images of 'Mech concept art, MWO account also doing it but looks to be different 'Mech. 25 vs 27 total, though MWO account has dropped two already so I guess we will see how quickly they start to show enough to realise what it is.

All the MW5 images so far seem to be coming together as a right arm. The thin forearm is very Hatchetman but then also looks different from the HBS one - https://www.artstation.com/artwork/GXvRo4

Any new mech better than none. I just hope they don't go with something boring. Crusader is interesting mix of firepower and vulnerability (namely missile explosions.)

I would think it would be the Crusader vs Phoenix Hawk IIC because latter would be a boring choice to be honest. Not knock it, but we don't need more assault mechs out there it was itself a Lemon mech.

Hatchetman makes sense because they could code in the melee damage from the Hatchet finally, since MW5 has melee enabled.

I have to agree with that. Given also the fact that it's the right era / time frame for the hatchimant to exist it makes more sense for that Hatchetman to show up in MechWarrior 5 than Clan Invasion Era Axman.

It barely slides into MW5's timeframe (The Axman) by dint of being introduced per MUL at 3048. The timeline for MW5 is roughly supposed to end around then, IIRC.

There were hatchets fluffed as -looking- like swords, though. The Tukkayid "Clanbuster" Black Knight has one. Then later someone realized we could make the game more crunchy by having "real" swords work differently.

I bet this melee-Highlander is presented as Ryana Campbell's former machine because her Highlander was named Claymore (well, Claidheamh-mòr

).
