I added you foxx.

I think my steam should be the same as here
if not kevin somethingsomething

Added both you and bedwyr! FINALLY  ran into a grasshopper, sadly couldn't salvage it =(. The Orion-1K is a lot of fun to pilot, switched the srm for a lrm to streamline ammo and give it a bit more punch at range.

<Kojak> Yeah, there's definitely a learning curve with BA, But once you learn how to use 'em well they're addictive, heck, just look at what happened to Foxx ;-)
<Steve_Restless> its YOU who I shouldn't underestimate. I could give you a broom handle and I'd find you sitting on top of the enemy stormcrow, smug surat grin on your face

I watched two or three videos from people who played it on PC LRMs got a lot of flak especially in the hands of the AI

I've had the opposite experience on XBox LRMs are great especially against light Mechs I've only got a pair of Shadow Hawks and a Griffin as my joint heaviest but I've killed light Mechs at range with the LRMs and the AI hasn't been bad either

Huh,we've had nothing but good experience using lrms on pc,great way to soften up mechs. Used a lrm10 to mess up a rifleman before moving in with an ac10 to finish it off.
AI wise I've found that missile boats are a good way to go but that's just my experience. The minitreb our commando cosplays as gets good dmg and comes out relatively unscathed.

How is the XBox version of MW5?

I've been busy, only dabbling with instant action.  I frankly it find it slightly a different experience controls wise than MW4 and MWO.  I wish it behaved like latter, but thus is life.

It feel like doesn't feel right way I'm cockpit view.  Feels like I'm zoomed in before i was zoomed.  I do find it hard focus on targets coming in.
I'm glad i did this before getting into the campaign to get better feel in controlling AI.

I've yet figure out how mods are loaded. Everything I've read, you need them in many cases for the game feel better or run better in game play.

I'm just too spoiled by MWO's feel I guess.

As for game mods I'm not sure if the xbox version takes them

Game play wish it feels good I like the cockpit view you just need to get used to the Torso twist which works great I think with the sticks I was really worried if it wouldn't work but it's good for me anyway

Zooming in slows turning once you remember that it's OK lol

The mercenary unit finances are simplified though I wish the DropShip was at least a Union would make carrying 16 Mechs before storage a little smarter

I'm happy I did the campaign before career I've read the campaign story isn't great but I haven't found it too bad I don't like how you can run around the DropShip but can't speak to the crew takes away from the story development a but its not an RPG

I lost my first lancemate the guy you meet in your first mission headshot wiped out his Mech.  I'm going planet to planet along FedSuns Combine border but taking my time before jumping into higher zones to build up Mechs

Lost my second pilot yesterday, that good LT kid you scoop up early in the game.  We were in WAAYY over our head on a mission I shouldn't have signed us up for, but it part of the "campaign" so i thought we'd go for it.  -sigh-

That said, I wish the campaign progressed FASTER.  I'm into 3027 now, and while it'd be hysterical to see the borders change here in a few years, I've literally been running this unit for 10ish years and am still no closer to figuring out who killed my dad?  another week of gameplay, and I'll be a senior citizen enacting revenge against some old fart in a diaper, yah know?

Got a charger now, which is cool, but my JAM is either running a Blackjack or Hunch 4P. Zappity-Zappity!

I gave my 4P to an NPC cause I just can’t get the AI to not be stupid when using the treb and it’s LRMs and it devolves into a brawl. The 4P in the AIs hands is actually brutal. One of the few times it feels like they are putting in work.

You can adjust the cockpit in options so you have better field of view in the cockpit and not feel like a tie fighter pilot smooshed up against the glass.

The story is a wee bit slow but it's BattleTech when it takes 3 weeks to travel System to System it makes a bit of sense for it to take a while.  Because we're not held to one planet like other games it spreads out a bit

I've only been way in over my head once so far it was a raid I got two Mechs shot out from the lance with 2 injured pilots my own Mech lost an arm the sole surviving other Mech was a Griffin with LRMs decent pay day I salvaged 3 Mechs from it

But the next mission of the double header I was down to 2 pilot lance lol

I'm having good fun with Career mode.  I have no intention of doing the Campaign.  It's fun with others but you can use the rock dumb AI.  Tag and missiles will keep them useful.  PPCs and Gauss are extremely effective.

Xbox version is ok, I have no issues hitting cockpits or long range targets.  We have no mod support and I'm not sure if PGI is on the table for console mod support.  I'll post my invite code when I get on Xbox.

  • And I think it's gonna be a long, long time...
Just picked it up on Xbox, and I’m on the campaign mission where you go to the first IE dig site.  Got myself killed by the boss battle, going to have to try again tomorrow and maybe not get as damaged.

Here's a tip - Head to Valentina. There is a seemingly as yet unannounced Clan Wolverine flavoured Razer branded gift waiting there, on the last world the Minnesota Tribe were sighted near before disappearing. Zero reputation tier so available to pick up immediately in both campaign and career modes, campaign and Davion career put you right where you need to be too...

Might have to ponder any other hidden things might be out there in the starmap...

Drat. Been over on the Liao border, working for the FedSuns/Com and SIC.  Gotta do the long slow trail there to see what's there.

I just order them away from the buildings even if the fight goes in they stay out and I go in

I got a Gauss Rifle for my Victor so I'm happy it's a huge step up from the ACs on the Rifleman I was using the missus asked :was that lightning"

I replied "no I have a Gauss Rifle!"

Oh yeah you're playing your game, I just smiled

Also salvaged the hero Rifleman but haven't used it yet

I picked MW5 up at initial release and the HOTIS DLC definitely has added a lot. The Mod community is going bananas on new missions and content which after playing on and off over the last year and a half has been very refreshing.

Learning to tell your lancemates to just sit at a corner of the base and shoot what comes near them is clutch on a defense mission. That said the AI pilots are far better about not just walking through allied structures.

If you have the DLC you can import a Campaign mode save into Career mode, all it brings across is rep, your pilots, parts and 'Mechs - your faction standing is zeroed and you can redo all the missions fresh.

They really went crazy with a couple of the new hero mechs. The KGC-CAR is uh...just weird. Fun, because 4 UAC5s just lets you hail bullets, but it really hurts for ammo sustain.  New hero ARC-AGN is fantastic. Playdd DRG-SDR in a friend's game and that gets fun.
It's a shame they only hive you 4-5 mechs that van moung MSK systems though. The new gear makws equipment slots feel even more restrictive.

Agincourt fitted with massed Tier 4 Stream Fire SRM-6s was my go-to leg eater until it got pulped getting the Carapace which has become my go-to. I run my near stock, dropping the LRMs down to 10s and using a single ton of ammo for indirect I'm slow" support to devote more to ammo and despite some near runs could complete the campaign missions with ease sawing through CTs without care.

I don't know if its because I learned my lessons from initial 2019 EGS release playthrough, but seemed so much easier this time around. The new Heroes often verge on OP and then the extra missions to get them offer more opportunities to grind out AI pilot XP.

it seems the tweak to AI that had been missing in all previous game just popped up.
in last few games i noticed that AI is now using terrain to hide and sneak either behind you or pop in front all guns blazing
a welcome change from we will rush you with wave after wave till you give up or just give ip

i had not played it over a year and only mod i have on it is inner sphere
when it came out it was wave after wave of spawns  now fixed number of mech spawn per mission and ai is using jump jets and so do ai using the lance mates,
i wish that feature in mw3 was available of telling your lance mates to go to specific point on map to use pincer movement attacks
you sure cannot out run death...but sure as hell you can make that bastard work for it!
