Fair enough. I'll like to toss Fate Can Be Cruel in, by 2ndAcr. Both parts, if possible. The second part is not completed, but that is not address in the rules.

Nomination seconded.
The core rules for interacting with me:

1.) I am not a moderator, game developer, member of Cryptic staff, relative of any members of cryptic staff, not close friends with anyone involved with the game, not a distributor of product, not an employee, employer, professional reviewer, or member of any powerful conspiracies.  What I think is my own and has no impact on the Battletech franchise in any way, shape, or form.

2) If you don't like something I've said, refer to rule 1.  If you do, god help you poor soul, you're screwed up.

Who Goes There? by JA Baker

It started in 2017, but as a series of individual stories, I'll argue it can stand as my nomination.

And the Administrator storyline by Cannonshop. Although, this may also be in a multi-story category.

As it's an anthology work, I'd say pick an individual "chapter" posted in 2020, rather than the work as a whole. Because even I'll admit, some parts are better than others.

there's a certain amount of world-building that goes into establishing a good fan-alternate setting.  JA Baker's work is a lot like mine (though a bit better), in that a lot of what he's doing requires establishing differences in the setting from the Canon, and a lot of what makes his quality is that he's very consistent in his delivery of those changes.  2ndACR also did a lot of ground-work grunt-work in his to make it feel 'fleshed out' and consistent.

Based upon feedback, I have cut down the anthology's nomination to just one story. This was really hard as I had 7 make the shortlist.

My nomination from the Who Goes There? anthology by JA Baker is...

I believe the initial post limits nominations to stories started in 2020. Both State of the Union and Welcome to the Jungle began in 2019.

Bah. In that case put "Davion & Davion (Deceased)" down for "Best of decade".
