Thanks Cubby.
(I’d still love to hear any theories for a laugh. PM me.)

I figured the theory related to ilClan coming out and needing all hands on deck to push it out the hatch.

So you're saying that the pause is NOT so that everyone can focus on putting the finishes touches on the tech manual that canonizes all of those Piranha variants from the thread linked in my sig?

Well, it's not *only* for that.

Minimize, hell! They gave me every instance of the word "the"! :o

Could be worse. I managed to duck out of the job of describing every PPC shot in a different way. :yikes:

I'd love to hear it

You realize who you're talking to, right? are you sure you want to?  :D I can send a PM if you're really curious what my theory was but I don't want to speak it aloud and have someone run with it.

The reason for the break is that the schedule was an experiment. It's been a long, long, time since we've had regular releases, and weekly releases are absolutely unheard of. We put ourselves through the paces to see how and what we can maintain, and see how everything is received. Now we rest, regroup, and reevaluate.

I hope it's been a successful experiment for you guys. I've been enjoying it.

For the record we're really proud of the whole team this past quarter, and I hope everyone's enjoying things so far.

And as a fan, it would be difficult to be happier with how things have gone. I'm nigh ecstatic over what we've been getting.

Let me let the air out of your theory. I'll tell you the real reason. The inside scoop. The truth. Deadass.

Work takes time.

I really hope my theorizing isn't taken as ingratitude or unhappiness, because really, I'm super thrilled with the way things have been going. The only thing I can think of, at all, that would make me happier, would be if ilClan itsself were out. I'm not complaining.

This. Even if Jymset had not been wise enough to know we'd need to pause, we would have needed it at this point. But let's set aside the "I'm tired" argument, because my personal level of fatigue doesn't and shouldn't matter to you, the steadfast customer. For you, the benefits of this break will be two-fold.

It matters more to me than you'd think. I'm really happy with the state of battletech and would hate to see such an aggressive release schedule burn everyone out and lose that.

I realize that communication from our side isn't always what it should be, and that can lend itself to "baseless speculation." It's okay. I don't see the answer being to crush Steve for wondering, it's to try to make sure that we're saying what we're able to say as clearly as we can. I hope I've done so here. That said: this is the official answer. There is no deeper truth to uncover. I'm liable to take further speculation personally, because in essence it would be saying that our team isn't really tired and we're covering for something else.

Please don't crush Steve. Consider said speculation quashed. I had no idea my curiosity about the nature of the well deserved breather would shake such a beehive.

I'd love to hear it, but I expect that whatever it is, I'd bet it's based on a misconception that things are more grandiose than they actually are.

The reason for the break is that the schedule was an experiment. It's been a long, long, time since we've had regular releases, and weekly releases are absolutely unheard of. We put ourselves through the paces to see how and what we can maintain, and see how everything is received. Now we rest, regroup, and reevaluate.

For the record we're really proud of the whole team this past quarter, and I hope everyone's enjoying things so far.

My "Theory" WAS that some of the people involved with the writing will shortly be involved in sorting things out for a certain "little" Kickstarter.  But I've no idea how many of the Writers (IF any) are anywhere near one of the Distribution Centers, so it could very well be that NONE of them will be involved with the KS Distribution Madness at all.

However, after reading you had the break Planned for THIS time since back in June, and we ALL know it's simply a HUGE coincidence that the KS stuff is just now getting to the US, that shoots down my "Theory".   :-\

Since it's been a while since the last 2 "TRO Series" were released, I've NO idea what the Schedule for either one was.  Does anyone know what the Release Schedule was for either the XTRO or TRO 3145 Series?   ???   (Serieses?  Series' ? )
To me, Repros are 100% Wrong, and there's NO  room for me to give ground on this subject. I'm not just an Immovable Object on this, I'm THE Immovable Object. 3D Prints are just 3D Repros.

Please don't crush Steve. Consider said speculation quashed. I had no idea my curiosity about the nature of the well deserved breather would shake such a beehive.

Not all all. I wouldn't frame it as a beehive, but it did make me realize that we'd kept saying "there'll be a break" without really offering a detailed explanation why.

As detailed in an early KS Update, there's an entire company handling the KS distribution--Quartermaster Logistics. They're a very well-known, very professional KS fulfillment firm that does the sort of work you're describing as their business. The KS is far too complex and involves far too many items to do it any other way. This isn't a soup kitchen, where we can get a couple a volunteers together to stuff take-home boxes or something.

Plus, remember that most of the writing and production staff, including myself, are contract-based. We are not CGL staff, we're contractors. There's no capability for us to be dragooned into other company functions, because there is no language for "other duties as assigned."

Thanks to the the Catalyst team for all the great content. Its rare that this thread has so many actual new releases to discuss

It really is a team effort. I fear that my earlier post is being construed as "Cubby is a big hero and doing everything," but nothing could be farther from the truth. Lots of talented, hard-working people made this BattleTech Summer possible.

Bold mine... I learned today that this is a verb! I chuckled, then I went and looked it up because I'd never seen it used that way.

Yup, it comes from the late 17th century, when French kings would persecute religious groups with dragoons; i.e., "dragooning" someone to do something.

I propose a redefinition for 31st century:
"Act of pissing off Draconis Combine enough they attack you and only you".
Kinnol tank, JES III missile carrier, Simian, Quirinus and Centaur battle armor, Blade BLD-XR variant, Valiant VLT-3E variant, DI Multipurpose VTOL, Void (Minelayer) for fan funding
(Also Atlas AS7-K2)

Available today is the conclusion of our first %u201Ccycle%u201D of Recognition Guide: ilClan %u2013 stay tuned after the product links for some explanation of what that means, as well as other scheduling updates:

BattleMech Recognition Guide: ilClan, Vol. 6
Price: $3.99, PDF only

The march of technology across BattleTech%u2019s eras is relentless%u2014but some BattleMech designs never die. Each installment of this PDF-only series not only includes a brand new BattleMech or OmniMech, but also details Classic %u2019Mech designs from both the Inner Sphere and the Clans, now fully rebuilt with Dark Age technology (3085 and beyond).

Allowing beloved units redesigned for the BattleTech: Clan Invasion Kickstarter to be competitive on %u201Cmodern%u201D battlefields, this series also includes in-universe development notes, battle histories, notable pilots, and record sheets for each %u2018Mech. Released as a series of 22 PDF-only documents through the end of 2020 and early 2021, many %u2019Mechs featured in this series will be collected as a single print volume upon its completion.

Catalyst Game Labs Store: https://store.catalystgamelabs.com/products/battletech-recognition-guide-ilclan-vol-6
DriveThruRPG: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/326174/BattleTech-Recognition-Guide-ilClan-Vol-6

----------

So%u2026what%u2019s a %u201Ccycle%u201D of Recognition Guide: ilClan, and why are we doing it this way?

We%u2019re planning 22 volumes of Recognition Guide: ilClan, and so far we%u2019ve been able to put them out at a bi-weekly pace without missing any release dates. But that fast pace hasn%u2019t allowed our developers the chance to pause, look back, and evaluate the first few products and determine whether there%u2019s anything we need to do differently to make future volumes even better. That%u2019s what we%u2019ll be doing during this break, which was built into the release schedule from the beginning.

The pause will also allow us to get the volumes for the next cycle fully written and reviewed before the first one comes out. That%u2019s better for our team%u2013and better for you, so we don%u2019t miss any release dates.

So: the Recognition Guide: ilClan series will return with the release of Volume 7 on Friday, Nov. 6, and this second cycle will consist of five volumes. This series has been well-received, so we look forward to bringing you more fresh spins on classic BattleMechs!

A few other scheduling notes:
  • Technical Readout: Irregulars is still in active production, and we have to have it for you in PDF and Print-on-Demand before that Nov. 6 date. (And ideally, much before it.)
  • Writing is complete on the first volume in the Brush Wars series, Operation Guerrero, and art has been assigned. Unfortunately, it will not make the date we originally announced, but we do expect to have it out in the Fourth Quarter of 2020.
  • More Hanseatic Crusade goodness! We%u2019re still working on the two Spotlight On volumes intended to support the recent Operational Turning Points: Hanseatic Crusade. In addition, we%u2019re pleased to announce another volume supporting play in that region of space: Touring the Stars: Granada! No trip to Nueva Castile/the Imperio/the Empire would be complete with out a look at the mysterious Umayyad invaders, and this publication will finally reveal who the Umayyads truly were!
Our entire production team has kept up an incredible pace throughout this summer, and we%u2019re eager to spend time now to focus on making the next wave of BattleTech releases just as engaging and enjoyable!
