it's about 350 pages to accommodate for the new Dominion-Davion-Kurita HRE-style microstate soup. Tukayyid has ten by itself

I'm guessing this is an attempt to prod the Davion rabble rousers about a terrible future.  /Rabble rabble rabble

Can they promote you to write stuff  ;D

nothing good could possibly come from this

no, for that i'd doctor a map that has the FedSuns divvied up between the wolves, cappies, and dracs. filtvelt would also have about 75 worlds - the tractor garage-built clints are an unstoppable force

Then I would suggest the cards are all for RecGuide versions . . . the Clan mechs that are not specific variants- like the Warhawk being a C- would be the Ts . . . so the card is for a Timber Wolf T & Nova T.  The IS variants would be again be RecGuides . . . so the Warhammer's card is for the 8R, forget the PXH's gun port match.  But would the Atlas, Wasp & Locust really be 3050 designs then?

It is possible for a product to be usable in more than one era while being intended to present one era as a foundation.  Any 3050 variant/config is still going to be usable in 3150+, why wouldn't they be included?

Because the AS cards offer a older variant and a more modern variant.  The rest of the AS materials, like the CMs, seem to have been set for Clan Invasion starting point.  So one side of the AS Card being a ilClan/Dark Age era and the other being Clan Invasion era make sense, especially since the Wraith has no pre-CI era version.

They'll probably just have a 3050 variant on one side and a 3150 variant on the other. One of the RecGuide variants if I had to guess, like the 5A for the wasp.

I had a post after that answering Empyrus that went that way, but if it is 'set' in 3151 as the box says then the 3050s stuff would be secondary.

Does it matter? If either side of the card can be used just as easily and readily does it matter what is "primary" or "secondary"? Whatever little bit of fluff or "lore" is provided with the box doesn't actually have any impact on the core game play or the core mechanics in play during said game

It’s not like the 3050 variants don’t exist in 3150. And from the art it’s Highlanders vs CJF remnants, so anything they can cobble together from any era would be used.

I wonder what the price point will be on the Alpha Strike Box. Im guessing about a $100, the mechs alone go for $70 at least.

I was just wondering that myself.  Hard to factor in the higher cost of doing business/logistics right now as well.  I'd think AGoaC could go for $75 due to transport costs and inflation.  I'd guess Alpha Strike is going to be $79.99 minimum and $89.99 wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I have absolutely no insider information but I'd be very happy with $80 and not disappointed by $100.

Model-wise, it's almost a combination of A Game of Armored Combat and Clan Invasion, just without the Elementals.

True--I'm excited for the papercraft buildings and trees if I'm remembering the description correctly.  So it has a few other things in there that one might charge a premium for.

As best I can tell the novel, Chaos Theory, is a previously-unannounced title

I can say two things: it's a novella, actually. And I had a lot of fun writing it.

I don't think I can say outright, but I think I saw someone piece out who the set involves based on some of the art.

Reminds me of the stories of the undercover drug task force agents being arrested buying drugs from a different group of undercover drug task force agents.

Wow, didn't know they were including the card stock trees.  That's a welcome surprise.

To serve as terrain templates in the included scenarios.

And don't forget about the cardstock buildings!

Clearly, we can expect a full page for every single fractured microstate ^-^

Not a full page, but they're in there. This primer updates to 3151-52.

Yep, a story taking place on a world near Terra, the Terran CJF vs. Highlanders. The fiction, art, scenarios, and one side of the pilot cards all tie into that story.

I'd guess Alpha Strike is going to be $79.99 minimum and $89.99 wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Good guess. MSRP is $79.99 for the box. Same "bookshelf" size as past boxes. (Though maybe a bit thicker, I'm not sure.)

I assume not all the Highlanders particularly like the idea of suddenly being part of Clan Jade Falcon.  From Campbell's point of view, or at least Stephanie Chistu's, it's a Trial of Absorption.
