Can infantry artillery guns use alternative ammo

Can infantry with an Arrow IV, Thumper or Sniper field artillery use alternative rounds (e.g. Copperhead or flak, or in the case of Arrow IV, homing rounds)?

Yeah, I had 3 Thumpers I was using for a tournament . . . sometimes they had cluster, sometimes homing, sometimes smoke . . . all to mess with folks for my options.

Give that Long Tom some fuel air munitions and watch them all run... out of ammo. FAM can be nasty with artillery though considering the extra radius it provides, R3 I think. That's provided your games uses the more advanced rules for it though.

Where is that from?

The only time I'm aware of fixed ammo choice is in Aerotech.

Same . . . it is part of the reason to take platoons larger than 24 men- your guns can mix ammo types b/c you get at least 2 guns on everything but 20 class autocannons.

Hmm, standard 28 man platoon,  2x AC20,  1 Precision, 1 Standard.

Ambush, good chance at 1 hit for sure, by the 2nd round of fire, 1 AC is out of ammo and you can afford to start taking damage from return fire anyway :)

The Field Gun rules, I think my copy of TacOps is first or second ed, and it's the old combined one, but it says:

Ultra and Rotary Autocannon Field Guns are immune to jamming or fire control failure effects, and LB-X Autocannon Field Guns must always use cluster munitions. Gauss-based Field Guns are immune to weapon explosion effects.
Note that that no jamming rule also applies the normal and light AC's when using their rapid fire rules.
