I'm still cooking up variants for the Lothian League in
Vehrec's game (which admittedly hasn't updated in a while). I stated in the game thread that the Lothians use Sabres and Thunderbirds for their ASFs, as both are produced by Pinard Protectorates Limited (a Taurian company, where the Lothians originated from). I've fluffed the Lothians as seeking maximum self reliance, and thus a preference for energy weapons over anything using ammunition. Taking further inspiration from the D50 model of the Thunderbird (produced MUCH later by Pinard), I present the D39 model. The LRMs and the aft facing Medium Lasers are dropped in favor of upgrading the nose mounted Large Laser to a PPC, a pair of Small Lasers for anti-missile defense aft, adding an additional Medium Laser to each wing, enough Heat Sinks to fire all the forward mounted weapons and NOT lawn dart (once), and giving the rest to armor:

==Overview:==
The early 30th century was a worrying time for the Lothian League.
The sudden silence from Alpheratz Trading Corporation followed by the
subsequent rise of the so-called Marian Hegemony was enough to spur
the ruling Logan clan to reach out to their distant cousins on Perdition.
Unfortunately, Pinard Protectorates Limited wasn't able to deliver a
suitable heavy fighter until well after the League had been devastated
by "rogue" spheroid units in 2933-37, though conversion kits arrived in
time to enable the final victory over the raiders on Paulinus. This was
fortuitous, as the local Lothian LRM ammunition factory had been one
of the first targets destroyed.
==Capabilities:==
Like other Lothian requests, the specifications for the D39 required
the craft to be ammunition independent. The Pinard engineers duly
removed the LRM-20s in each wing and found themselves with 24 tons
to work with. To compensate for the lost LRM launchers, a PPC was
installed in the nose, and one additional Medium Laser was placed in
each wing. To balance the heat and increase point defense capability,
the rear firing Medium Lasers were switched out for Small Lasers.
Twelve heat sinks were added to tune the heat balance, leaving the
craft able to fire all of its forward firing weaponry (once) without
worrying about control. The rest of the freed mass was put toward
increasing protection, leaving this variant's hide tough enough to
resist PPC fire without penetration.
