Asteroid Survival Kits

Basic Asteroid Survival Kit (BASK)

The BASK is the spacer equivalent of the Basic Field Kit.  It includes a Solar Recharger, shovel, pick, "cooking bag", and seperator.  The recharger powers the cooking bag and separator, which, when fed appropriate feedstock, can generate hydrogen, oxygen and water.  If the rock you're stranded on has the right stuff, you can avoid suffocation and dehydration indefinitely.

Stats: D/B-C-C/A, 500 cost, 5 kg mass

Deluxe Asteroid Survival Kit (DASK)

The DASK is similar to the BASK, but has a larger cooking bag and a more complicated separator.  In addition to hydrogen, oxygen and water, the DASK can generate complex organic material that vaguely resembles nutrition if fed appropriate feedstock.  Starvation won't get you, but malnutrition might in the long run.

Stats: D/C-D-D/A, 1,500 cost, 15 kg mass

Wow that would suck to be stuck on an asteroid for a long time. No emergency beacon included?

Suits should have beacons, but they wouldn't be out of place in an ASK.  Thanks for looking in!

For malnutrition, one thing from Atomic Rockets was tracetabs (you'll have to scroll town to read the little bit).  All the trace elements and minerals your body needs that the local environment may not provide

I like these, I also like the concept they represent.

Thanks Cannonshop!  As usual lately, these were inspired by your work...  8)

Idea Weenie: tracetabs are the kind of thing that should be in your suit, I think...

Question: do these include some form of pressure vessel/bag, or are you in the suit exposed on the surface of the asteroid the whole time you're using it, which brings up the question of how you're transferring materials into and...well, out of the suit.

one would definitely WANT a 'bag' of some kind., whether it's a tent-shelter or a toughened beachball with an anchor-stake.

Pressure tents are separate pieces of gear, but yes you should totally have one!  As far as transferring the separated products to your suit, the "seperator" is basically a concentrator with appropriate connectors to suits or pressure tents/beachballs.
