A little something Cannonshop asked for.

I know it doesn't have the most offensive firepower by Battletech standards and unfortunately there's no MML options for the stealth systems requested but  if I did the math right for it's ATACs it can coordinate with 8 Destroyers, the Fighter Wings of said Destroyers, and it's own Fighters.  So good luck getting close enough to hurt it in such a scenario.

Catch it by itself, well it is 4/6 with good durability.  I can be convinced to bring that down to 3/5 and put in a few more guns if so desired.

So....I'm assuming this is overized command cruiser type Warship? 

CA suggested that to me, it has a lot of close range defensive weapons with minimum capital weapons. It does have crew (unless their robotic/ais..) so the pods maybe needed.

That said, if you have fictional / invented equipment you can't use megamek lab for, you can allot it to Cargo.  Thus fixing problem stat wise, but its only based what 2ndAcr had done when he had modify a ship with his AU's unique technology.

I went with the NACs over energy weapons to make use of the high velocity engagement rules while still giving it some good firepower.

While I am reasonably certain most people already know this this is for those who do not: The SCL-1s are there to give it basically a dual purpose battery since they're +3 instead of +5 against ASF, which can be switched to AA mode to go even further down to +1.  While not being anything to scoff at.

I can see the NAC Bay, but how many SCL Bays are there? Five bays with 3 each still does 3 capital each, enough to kill-damage any dropship size or lower, instantly. But you have 16 allocated here per fore / aft sides.

Ah... Or the 5, save some heat and tonnage, more rolls slightly less damage per bay, but solid hits when they do.

Same for the LAMS and ERL, four ERL per bay, 5 Bays total and three LAMS per 6 Bays... 3:is the magic numbers.

Would allow straight hits, less oversized heat and save some tonnage as well. The 4 ERL would allow a +2 to PSR... AMS allows more rolls to intercept and deal 3 points off each attack.

Unless they changed the way AMS rounds paired bays are the most efficient.

As far as ER-LL that depends on what rules are in play and leaving them in pairs gives more flexibility.  And penalties for Fire Control are based off indivual weapons, not how many bays there are.

20 point ERL slaps hurt, but how many can suck a 40 point without a threshold breach? You'll need two of them to hit the heavier ones to accomplish that.

Meaning your losing more hit damages. Of course hitting a Squadron dead on will cause chaos, but still you need to hit two to effectively destroy them. While a single hit kills or cripples them.

Not sure about AMS, rarely get naval play as much anymore.

Unless the rules have been errated:

AMS or in this case lAMS does 0.3 Capital damage, so two are 0.6.  Which rounds up to 1 Capital.  So putting them in groups of 3 does nothing as it would be 0.9 and round to the same 1.  So through their combined firepower last I checked no Capital Missile is getting through that screen.

Yes.  Which again to provide a clarification for others Bracket Fire mode is only availble to Capital and Sub Capital weapons.

So for those ER-LL since they are Star League models the difference between twin and quad mounts is actually pretty minimal.  The number of published ASF with more than 160 armor is pretty short.

Machine guns would be a complete down grade in the role.  0.2 damage each, can only fire once per turn, and don't even get the benefit of high speed engagement rules.

Not really.  Would provide no benefit really.  In space each hex is 18km so standard AMS already gets lots of coverage.

Honestly the worst part of AMS for me is how doing it right necessitates creating a giant mess in your record sheet and can easily overflow even the two page version.

Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

AMS is part of the rock/paper/scissors triad.  It really drives home every ship needs a mix of weapons.

Yes and no.  Alphastrike does abstract out a lot of the problems but at the same time how it abstracts out a lot of the problems create new ones.

In terms of firepower yeah they're not the best but they're not the worst.  And maybe for a hint look at their ASF compliments for what they are for.

I'm such a World War II nerd, I keep seeing the CA part, which translates as a Heavy Cruiser.  :headbang:

Typically, aerospace carriers or Fighter Carriers in Battletech use the initials of CV.  :tongue:
