Ah, I thought I'd read that there was a plastic Mad with two dorsals. ...

There will be in KS: Mercs. 2 different force packs iirc.

RFL-3C ... I could easily go retrotech and make those HR's

soo cool looking!  I like the ACs.

Wait what does the SLE version have again? ah, not SLE, clan golden century.  There was a 2 UAC-2 version (LT/RT).  So I see we need a company sized mini box with all different variants of the PHX (focus on SL/CLan imo!)

Yeah, that makes me want to do the same to a Battletech miniature...I'd have to cut laser barrels off a Rifleman's arms and replace them with autocannon barrels...that's some fiddly work, I admit, but the results could be worth it.  Hm...what's a little more blood sacrificed to the miniatures god anyway?  I'll see if I make that after all.

Well I'm not unseeing that.  Needs something to land on.  What 'Mech would make a good Goomba?

I made another War Phoenix mini and did it in desert camo to match its sister 'Mech; this time I used a different method to get the panel lines as well as changed my photo setup to limit the brightness.  The Nuln Oil wash and the Tamiya panel lining is shiny, and it reflects light despite being black - so all my lining was washing out in the camera.  This one was painted normally with Tamiya acrylics, then I went after the panel lines with black Panel Line Accent Color.  Some touchup painting was necessary afterward, but it's a lot darker and more filled in than the Nuln Oil.

It's also a lot more time consuming and difficult, I haven't decided how I'm going to paint up the rest of the 'Mechs for the Devil's Dozen.

I need new batteries for the camera, I'll pick some up tomorrow and get photos with the new setup.  Maybe the Nuln Oil wash will show up better with the indirect lighting.

Sounds like a plan! :)

And I'd be interested in your thoughts on the part of the story I linked when you get a chance too... ;)

Was good stuff.  I liked the hiding place, that was unexpected.  Creative and well thought out, I think.  And six tons of gold is going to be one hell of a find for anyone; I'll have to read further to see how things turned out for the Deuce.

We lost momentum not too much further along, but I have hopes of reviving it again.  I see Tegyrius post every now and then, and Failure16 rather more often.  Hope springs eternal! :)

Credit for the idea goes to Luciora but I'm proud of the execution in this regard.

I need more Pixies to disarm.  BUILD ALL THE WAR PHOENIXES!

You starting the project, Kamas was what got me researching into variants of Destroids and Valkyries, so thank you as well!  In the meantime, I'm building a 1/72 Armored Messiah Ozma Custom to sate some of that Macross feeling  azn

So here's how the new War Phoenix turned out compared to a regular Warhammer.  The difference is that the War Pixie is just paint with Tamiya panel liner, while the Warhammer got the Nuln Oil treatment instead and has some blotchy areas.  I think they look pretty similar in these photos.

Agreed... they look pretty similar... the blotches just look like more camo to me, so no worries from my end! :)

This shows the differences better I think.  Warhammer on the left hasn't been given either treatment, center Warhammer was Nuln Oiled, and the War Phoenix was given the panel liner treatment.  You can see more of a difference in this pic between the three.

Retaking photos of the Tamar Jaegers company, this time in the more indirect light setup.  It's a bit darker, but you can see the panel lining better with the nuln oil wash.
