The Tech Manual notes that units with Clan internal structure may automatically include the effect of CASE in locations with explosive items. There is one entry for CASE on the heavy weapons and equipment table, in the Inner Sphere section.

1. Are units with Clan internal structure effectively receiving the 0.5t piece of equipment for 'free', or is Clan CASE a separate item entirely?
 
2. Should there be a separate line item for Clan CASE with zero slots and zero weight added to the Tac Ops equipment table (with era tech ratings, cost and intro date) for the purposes of mixed tech units?

3. If a mixed tech unit specifically has inner sphere internal structure (eg. IS endo steel) does it qualify to receive the effects of CASE automatically in locations with explosive items?

4. If a mixed tech unit without Clan internal structure has CASE added (base design or customisation) is this considered inner sphere CASE?

5. Can an inner sphere omnimech mount a zero slot Clan CASE 'omnipod'?

Separate item.  It's not "automatic", as you can opt for CASE II.

The line is actually missing from TM, p. 343.

3. If a mixed tech unit specifically has inner sphere internal structure (eg. IS endo steel) does it qualify to receive the effects of CASE automatically in locations with explosive items?

No.  You have to choose to add CASE.

4. If a mixed tech unit without Clan internal structure has CASE added (base design or customisation) is this considered inner sphere CASE?

CASE is no different than other IS-Clan equipment dichotomy.  Select which CASE you are installing.

5. Can an inner sphere omnimech mount a zero slot Clan CASE 'omnipod'?

Yes.
