Around the mid Succession Wars, Hamric Industries had built up enough money with its arms dealings that it decided to invest in creating a specialized subsidiary; Death Basket Technologies. This small investment was an attempt at diversifying into Battlemech production, though it had mixed reception. By purchasing licensing to the Crucius-A Chassis and making its own modifications to the design, Hamric Industries' goal was to make a durable mech that, like the Wolverine, could punch above its weight class.
The idea behind the design was to also make it easy to switch out the weapon loadouts between long range and short range setups, requiring investment in designing areas where the weapons could more easily be installed and removed. Named after the subsidiary itself as its first-and-only production run, the Death Basket was born.
"Close Range Variant" DBK-3T:Overview:The Death Basket's design is based on a modified Crucis-A chassis, similar to the Wolverine. Like the Wolverine, it is designed as a Medium mech that can punch above its weight class and survive; in comparison it hits just as hard and fast, but with more durable armor. Its unique modified chassis allows actuation in the shoulder mounted weaponry, allowing it to more accurately fire at jumping mechs or lob missilles in an arc if necessary.
Capabilities:Armed with a Magna MK-III Large Laser and two Holly-4 Missile Launchers, its meant to melt through armor and tear up the insides of a mech all in one go. With ten and a half tons of armor and jumpjets to back it up, this gives it excellent brawling power and speed to close the distance. The drawback is that the heavier armor interferes with a pilots ability to eject, resulting in several failed attempts in its history to punch out of a disabled mech before being killed, hence the name. It can also run hot if not carefully managed.
Deployment:The Death Basket is a Battlemech designed and built during the Succession Wars, yet it has not seen widespread use in its home nation of the Free Worlds League due to its limited manufacturing. The most of it seen is around the edge of FWL space, with a few placements in in the nearby Periphery. It is most commonly seen in deployments by Hamrics Hammer's aptly named Death Basket company; a group of mad bastards willing to accept the win or die nature the Death Basket provides, pushing them to perform daring feats to accomplish their objective any way they can.

"Long Range Variant" DBK-3L:Overview:The 3L and the 3T share almost all the same internal workings. The only difference is the missile launcher systems in the shoulder mounting and the arm mounted weaponry. The Death Basket's design allows for swift field refit of both the arm mounted and shoulder mounted weaponry, a flexibility inherent in its design from the beginning.
Capabilities:The 3L sacrifices short range firepower for long range fire support, replacing its two SRMs for LRM 5's and its Large Laser for an LRM 10. This variant is meant to hunker down and fire off missile salvos, jumping to more advantageous positions when necessary. Reduced heatsinks allow for a pari of Medium Lasers, one in each shoulder next to the LRM-5s.

"Medium Range Variant" DBK-3H:Overview:The 3H was designed as a middle ground between the 3T and the 3L with mixed results. Though capable of both short and long range fire, it does not excel in one area, and the design can easily overheat if poorly managed.
Capabilities:The 3H moves the large laser to its right shoulder, replacing its arm mounted weapon with a medium laser. It also replaces its SRMs with a Zeus LRM-10 launcher in the left shoulder with a single ton of reloads. The added weight requires the design to drop a heat-sink, making heat management more difficult with the additional weaponry. However, it retains its speed and heavy armor, allowing it to harrass at more ranges with greater ease.

By 2933, in an attempt to "sidegrade" the Death Basket, the 4T and 4H variants were developed, both using a smaller engine in return for more weaponry and armor.
"Heavy Close Range" DBK-4T:Overview:The DBK-4T was an overhaul in design from the 3T. By reducing its speed, it was able to enhance its offensive capabilities to become a monster in short range combat. The 4T makes up for its slower movement with the ability to bombard enemies with SRM fire while enduring more damage than its base design. Unfortunately the design requires delicate heat management or the pilot risks being cooked alove in the cockpit.
Capabilities:By removing the CoreTek 275 and replacing it with a DAV 220, as well as dropping a jump jet, the 4T is about as slow as an average Heavy Mech, though still able to maneuver quite well from its 4 jump jets. THe Magna Mk.III Large Laser is replaced with a "Sun-Hammer 40" from Hamric Industries' Subsidiary, Flatwell armaments, its more durable design allowing it to survive blunt-force melee when necessary. The two Holly-4 SRM's are replaced with two Flatwell-4 SRM's stacked on the left shoulder mount, along with two SRM-6's in on the right shoulder, both with a single ton of reloads. The design required the removal of a heatsink, resulting in a greater risk of overheating in the design.

"Balanced Variant" DBK-4H:Overview:The 4H was an attempt to balance out the machine's percieved weaknesses to make it more marketable as an all-rounder. Though it recieved some notable success in this reguards, its small production run ensured it stayed within FWL borders. The 4H makes up for its reduced armor and short range firepower with the ability to bombard enemies with LRM fire as it moves closer, before switching to its large laser, and ultimately closing the distance to hit it at close range with laser and SRM in tandem.
Capabilities:The 4H reduces the armor back down to ten and a half tons, while removing the two Flatwell-4 SRM's along with one of the SRM-6's. The SRM is moved to the left shoulder, while an LRM-10 with a ton of reloads is installed in the right shoulder. 16 heatsinks allow the design to remain relatively cool compared to the 4T.
