Heavy Snub-Nosed PPCs
« on: 30 October 2024, 14:55:29 »
Hazard Pay gets credit for this idea! :)

Code: [Select]
Weapon Heat Damage   Range Tons Criticals
HSn-PPC 15 15/12/8 0/9/13/15   9     3

Since I rounded up for weight, I rounded up for damage at long range... ;)

As I've mentioned elsewhere,  since this is a custom/new weapon,  I try to always "round down" or "go weaker" if in doubt, so as not to overshadow the originals.

With all that in mind, the only issues I would change are the following.

Long Range Damage = 7
Tonnage =  9    (Heavy PPC is 143% Heavier, that puts HSNPPC at 8.6 tons, rounding up to 9)

How did you round Up to get to 8?

You know, you're right... I was simultaneously looking at my Light Sn-PPC, and crossed wires.  Off to edit up to 9 tons! :)

So it's a better Large VSPL? Same weight, worse heat, better damage and range brackets all around. And it's smaller, too. Sure, five points more heat are not nothing, but in the age of DHS, it's a small price to pay for overall better performance. Honestly, I think this is one of those fan design weapons that makes sense and I would use in a heartbeat, but It makes at least one canon weapon obsolete. Granted, the same could be said about the SNPPC and the LSPL, but here you have the added difference of one being a head capper out to twelve hexes and the other merely going internal on a head hit out to five.

I don't know... I think the pulse bonus still makes it worth it for the VSPL.
