Trailer Rules Questions
« on: 21 April 2025, 19:57:59 »
So my questions are based on the tech manual rules for trailers. pg 98-99 "Units built as trailers do not require an engine, control systems, or crew unless they are expected to operate independently of an suitable tractor or are expected to employ heavy weapons or equipment independently of a vehicle with an engine."

Firstly does this mean that with the weapons my gun trailers use LRM, SRM, RL-10, Mech Mortar, and Machine gun I can omit the engine and they will still function or is an engine necessary?

Second based on my reading of canon existing gun trailers my planned use for my 5 ton micro trailers infantry support means that by having the infantry control them I can omit control systems. Is my understanding correct?

Thank you to anyone who takes time out of their day to answer these questions.

So if you bring a rocket trailer without an engine, and its not hooked up to a parent vehicle, it cant shoot (rockets are heavy weapons).  If you reattached a parent vee to the trailer, it regains power and can shoot.

The rules dont address a parent vee with a destroyed engine.  Ill leave that to others to ask about.  At my table I would rule a vee with a destroyed engine does not qualify as 'a vehicle with an engine' for purpose of powering targeting/sensor systems on a trailer.

Infantry Cargo space, youd have to see if it counts as equipment.  I dont believe that infantry transport counts as 'equipment' (i didn't search the books exhaustively), so they should be fine to enter and exit independent trailers without engines and control and such.
