Tiburon assemby
« on: 07 August 2018, 20:50:09 »
Oh my. The Tiburon takes the prize for fiddeliest assembly by iwm. 3 pieces for each foot, two for each leg, and nowhere to pin, too small.

Maximum posibility though, but of my the swearing when assembling the feet

Yeah, but I can make it pose just like the tro, and very few can do that. But it is delicate

I saw it the other day and thought, "What a gorgeous mech!" and then looked at the blister and thought, "Nope."

You see that little piston-looking bit at the back of the foot? I’m pretty sure the designer was having fever dreams sent by mighty Cthulhu when they came up with that. I now have a grey hair dedicated to each those pieces...it aged me.

The rest of it isn’t terrible, just broken up into more pieces than it probably needed to be, but those feet...I still have the nightmares.

I won't lie, it was a small personal achievement to finish that thing.  I still have a second I've been meaning to put together, but I keep telling myself 'NO' every time I see part of the foot assembly in the blister.

The Tiburon is the only mini that I've ever actually quit on.  Just couldn't the stupid feet assembled- the pieces are too small, they get glued to everything but each other.

Wasn't the Tiburon's design pretty well dictated by the ClickyTech figure?

Sorry for the poor quality photo, but I finished assembly other than a base. I made the tro pose.

For the next fan funding thread, I am seriously considering ‘One piece Tiburon feet’ as one of my votes.

The problem is that how they are laid out, it isn't possible with the molding. The holes and gaps and loops make one piecing it near impossible for the feet unfortunately.

Too bad we can't get a mini that's up to its ankles in water or something.

I would accept some amount of artistic license here. You can just paint the ‘empty space’ black, and fill all that in.

I found the best way to put the feet together is to attach the lower leg to the foot and then put points of glue on the foot and leg where you’ll mount that rear piston hydraulic bit (don’t put the glue on the bit itself). Use a pair of tweezers to place the bit where you want it. Also, don’t be afraid to file down the ends in order to make it fit properly.

My process was:

#1: Fit hydrolics to feet (I had to widen the rear foot slightly)
#2: drop of glue in each rear footwell
#3: drop of glue in front footwell
#4: drop of glue on rear of ankle where hydrolics will meet
#5: put foot on flat surface, hold hydrolics from side with tweezers and fit into rear footwells, lay ankle in, using tweezers to align hydrolics.
#6: press gently down and back on ankle, to seat everything.
#7: Let dry overnight.

Then can put together the rest of the legs.

UGH!

I was putting one of these together last night.  I was using tweezers to put the hydrolics onto one of the feet (having successfully assembled the other foot).  It slipped.  And fell in the carpet.  Where it promptly disappeared.

I give up on this mech.  The person responsible for designing it should be flogged.
