2nd Robison Rangers
« on: 29 April 2011, 08:51:14 »
So I'm not the Greatest Painter on the planet. But I figure I'll share my efforts.
This shall be for sharing my Regiment.

Command Lance 1st Battlion

The Watchman is Driven by Seri Toth. Its the new Draconais March refit with the PPC.

With It's Body Guard to a BlackKnight Sporting some heavy Mods. Bigger engine,Tsm and 2 clan weapons.
Know to my Group as "Big Ed" It tends to suffer from "Keep it away from me syndrome."

The two Nightskys also got the TSM upgrade.

So can generally be found picking on someone bigger than them.

Hey, they look like a unit ;) Consistancy counts as much as detail does. ;) The black knight looks like he's in a pinch ;)

Cheers guys.
I have been Practicing the Window effect and when I feel I can do it well enough I shall add it to them as I can.
Lance 2 of the command company.

Komodo   KIM-3C
Javelin   JVN-11D
Warhammer   WHM-8D
Helios   HEL-C

This is one of two c3'd lances I have in the unit.
The Komodo carries the master and is the command mech.
This lance also contains the last of the heavies in my unit. Both used to snipe at a range the Rangers do not normally preform well at.
The Javelin  is the units advance spotter with the Komodo found somewhere in the middle Dealing Pinging death.

Lance 3 Company 1

Vinny Cartpetner   Shadow Hawk   SHD-5D   3   4
Sandra Crowther   Enforcer III   ENF-6T   3   5
Ciara Duffy   Enforcer III   ENF-6M   4   5
Ian Coleman   Enforcer III   ENF-6T   4   4

The Enforcers have trained to support the Heavy mechs of second lance.  While Carpetners Shadowhawk teams up with the Komodo to support it at a medium distance from the combat.
Once the Gauss rifles have run out of Ammo the Enforcers happily close in attempts to kneecap any Enemy still standing.

Company one ready to leap accross the Border and attack the Dracs no matter what else is happening.

Awesome paint job for the whole Company.

I must say, however, that the Helio model looks kinda.....chubby. I am not digging that sculpt at all...

If its helps its only chubby from the front. And the back. Helios does have Back.
From the side you'd barley see it.

I like the block  the torso. Not sure how even the  greenest warrior couldn't hit it.

Moving on to Second Company.

Andrew Felle   Peregine      3   3
Laura Nagle   Watchman   WTC-4DM   3   5
Des Malloy   Watchman   WTC-4M   3   4
John Cleese   Panther   PNT-12TSM   4   5

Containing the only Clan mech the Rangers have. Dispite the lance being used mainly for defense or Garrison work.
The only other real work is the Panther 12A having TSM installed so the mech could better keep up with the rest of the unit.

Thanks Saatch.
One day I'll have better skills or the money to pay someone to do all the grunt work.
 Till then I make do.

   Mark Hall   Panther   PNT-12TSM   3   4
   Mick Ryu   Griffin   GRF-6S           3      5
   Bob Monkhouse   Lynx   LNX-9Q   3   3
   James Dodsworth   SentrySNT-04   3   5

My Personal Lance in the unit.
Again the Panther gets the TSM Treatment so it can keep apace to its lancemates.
This lance is one of my main Flankers in a force of mostly Flankers. It can generally be found supporting the main fight from one side or the other till they get behind the enemy formations. They all sport at least one Long range punch weapon while still capable of some up close love. The Sentry does tend to get sent hunting Infantry when they appear.

Company 2 Lance 3.

Kieth Suillivan   Bishammon   BSN-4K   4   6
Bill Clinton   Firestarter   FS9-OB   3   5
Andrew Rainey    Trebuchet   TBT-9K   4   5
Homer SimpsonTrebuchet   TBT-9K   4   5

The second of my C3'd lances. Made up of Battlefield Salvage. The c3 isn't must use as most of the mechs are Close ranger Brawlers. Tend to save them for City use to try take advantage of the close range firepower. Due to the Dracy nature of the unit it does tend to have a lot of abuse heaped on it.  Although they are training to operate as the distraction force for The flankers. And the Bishammon has become skilled at scurrying between cover and presenting a tempting target while avoiding enemy fire.

Company 2 ready to roll out.

Seeming as I am commander of the 3rd Lance, I shall share some thoughts

I am in a Bishamon as the first time I ever used one it defected in turn 3...taking down the entire c3 lance it was part of :(. I love the mech but it has never been kind to me

The Firestarter is currently up for replacement as I have a strong (and very unjustified) hatred for that mech. Applications are being accepted as we speak.

Third...Mark has managed to spell my name wrong twice in the roster above :(

Company 3 Lance 1 "Lighting Strike Company"

Bill Joe Armstrong   Wraith   TR1           3   3
Jame Hott                 Sentry   SNT-04   4   5
Will Shierly         Cicada   CDA-3F   3   4
Seth Green         Venom   SDR-9KA   4   5

In command of the recon element. This unit packs the biggest punch to back up the rest of the lances while they do the up close scans.
There are attempts to upgrade the Venoms Heatsinks to Doubles so he does not suffer as much with his heat. So far these attempts have proven unsuccesful.

And now we come to the EW portion of the 1st Battlion.

I lose one of the Spectors arms. And thanks to the kind work of FREAK. I had it replaced with a Banshees arm.

Clancey Wiggam   Stealth   STH-2D   3   4
Kira Moore           Stealth   STH-2D   3   5
Gary Jackson           Spector   SPR-5F   3   4
Dora Goggins        Spector   SPR-5F   3   4

Have spent most of their Training sessions going against the two c3 units in attempts to become better at dropping the enemies c3 networks. The Speed normally keeps them safe enough as they attempt this. But recently
Gary Jackson keeps venturing off on his own in attempts to Push off ledges. His Spector is suffering for his misadventures.
Due to this. Calls to upgrade the Spectors have been refused till he learns to follow the mission details.

The last lance of First Battlion. Is also the littlest one.

Carlos Fraile          Wasp   WSP-3S   3   3
Garth Jones          Jenner   JR7-F   4   3
Jenny Dodsworth    Jenner   JR7-F   4   4
Kieth Chan          Javelin   JVN-11RR   4   5

The Lance preforms purely as a harasser and chase element. They tend to avoid combat unless supported by other units.
Normally the Rangers Wing of Fighters. So Carlos can assist the Air to Ground Arrow in reaching their Targets. The Javelin has had the c3 system removed and a Heatsink added to help it be slightly more combat effective.

Company 3.

I do color code to be able to tell them apart. I have over 12 Enforcers,4 Watchmen,4 Hatchetmen and a lot of other designs that pop up regularly.

I color the back for the company they are in and the front form lance.
It also helps identify the front and rear arc on those designs that arn't always clear what way they are facing.

And as there's often more than a company on the table it's real handy for keeping track of this sea of Red.

It's so cool to see such a large formation with such light mechs. 8)

It's especially cool to see you deploying a dedicated hatchet lance. [notworthy]

DO you hear alot of pissin and moanin when you bring them out? I know I sure do when my very similar lance hits the mat.

The Black knight can shift it at 6/9 should it need to. Its just generally the enemy are falling back from it.
I've often caught up with an enemy only to have the Hatchet taken out during fire.
But a kick works just as well. :)

Battlion 2 Company 1 Lance 1

"The Wolverines."

Gus Mc Gourty   Wolverine   WVR-9M   2   3
Alma O Rielly   Wolverine   WVR-7K   4   5
Mick Whity   Wolverine   WVR-7K   3   4
Oliver Thor   Wolverine   WVR-7K   3   5

Gus Mc Gourty is  commander that likes to lead from the front. Equipped with one of the newest Wolverines out there. He can be found in the center of his attack formations.  And after careful swapping for Salvage he has finally ended up with the lance he wants.  With Liberal use of Infernos the 7Ks devastate on in the field. Quite often destroying one mech while Lighting others up like a roman candle.  All the while kicking or punching off limbs.
They have the highest success rate of the Rangers for getting the job done.

Bat 2 Com1 Lance 2

Barry Redmond   Clint   Eastwood   2   4
Dermot "Dodge" Smith   Pheonix Hawk   PXH-6D   4   4
Stephen Mullen   Starslayer   STY-3D   4   5
John Lee   Vindicator   VND-4L   3   5

Again this is anther Sniper lance. That pack a solid close range punch.
The Clint Again boasts Clan weapons and Extra armour.

The Vindicator was a chance to try out Stealth Armour.  All it tends to succeed in is getting his lance mates shot at instead of the Vindicator.

I want to see your Steel Vipers! (What galaxy? Alpha I'm guessing... doing scales on a Cluster would be... fun...)

That is one of the largest uniform units I've seen in a while. Are you planning on a Regiment or just a couple of battlions?

It's a Regiment.
Currently working on doing the 2nd Robinson Styrkers LCT. Which will be two company's of heavy mechs.
With the 3rd company taken from here as I see fit.
And the support Battalions.

The Vipers now belong to my mate. Dahtac on the boards here.
He's a much better painter than me. But I'll deny that should anyone in the real world ever ask.
I'll see about finding some pictures.

Bat 2.Comp 1. Lance 3.

Richard Kavanagh   Firestarter    OR   3   5
Billy Door                Stealth   STH-2D2   4   5
Des Molloy        Spector   SPR-5F   4   5
Mick Ryan                 Sentry   SNT-04   4   5

A batch of Fresh  faces make up this Lance. They've been attached to first company so the more Experienced guys can watch over them. Once they make it past the few combat missions they'll be Mustered out to other lances in the regiment.
The Firestart OR started life as OB. But removed the C3 and a small laser for a Guardian ECM to help improve its electronic warfare package.

Rounding out the Company With yet more Hatchetmen The 6mr swaps the Beagle for an ECM. The Enforcers have gained DHS to allow them to preform better on the battlefield. Scotts phawk can generally be found Be found Leading the 4 Hatchetmen into the midst of the Enemy.Taking advantage of the focus on the Hatchetmen to get behind enemy formations.

Bat 2 Company 3 Lance 1

Stephen Dunning       Enforcer III   ENF-6T           2   4
Amy Murray                Enforcer   ENF-5D           4   5
Lee Mo Pee                Dervish   DV-8D           4   5
Eoin"FireBall"Connell    Panther   PNT-12TSM   4   5

Containing a fresh batch of troops. The only real stand out thing to note about the unit is the fact that Pee's Dervish mounts Thunder Muntions in order to hinder the enemies movement while advancing upon them to get to the Rangers much loved Close quarters.

The Blitzers

Noel Mc Nally          Hermes   HER-4S   3   4
Oliva Hegerty          Blitzkerg   BTZ-3F   3   3
Damien Mc Kenna   Hermes   HER-4S1   3   4
Brid De Barra         Hermes   HER-4S   3   5

A fast assault recon unit. The Blitzers can cover a battlefield in seconds.  Mc Kennas ECM has been removed in order to make room for a Beagle. This adds to the units EW abilities. Often one of the Ecms is keep on Anti ECM to help counter the Wobbies. Leaving the other ECM to take down any C3 networks or other lines of nasty tech out there.
While the Blitzkrieg  may have issues keeping up should the other 3 be called to put the pedal to the metal. Its UAC2O means that few risk taking on the unit solo. Hegerty has put in a request for the new Blitzkerg that's recently appeared on the market siting that it would allow here to better keep up with her Lancemates.

Thanks.
It feels good to be at the end of the 2nd Battalion.  Only one more to do.

Bat 3 Company 3 Lance 3

Sean O  Rorke   ShadowHawk   SHD-5D   2   4
Eddie O Tool   Enforcer III   ENF-6M   3   5
Dave Hendricks   Marshal   MHL-X1   4   5
Jim O Hara        Wolverine   WVR-9D   3   5

No one is sure how Hendricks Marshal got into the Rangers. But Much like the new tech Wolverine. Signs point towards unsavoury dealings.  As a Whole the Lance are yet to prove themselves adapt at any task. They can generally be found supporting the main push of at the center of a defense formation. Acting as Bullet stoppers.

Nice looking unit. Really nice to see so many lights and mediums painted up for a unit. Makes me look at mine with mainly heavies and assaults in the parade scheme and the lights & mediums in assorted cammos & think about a repaint. Great work.

Bat 3 Company 1 Lance 1
The Murses

Peter"Murse" Crowley   Pheonix Hawk   PXH-6D   2   3
Brad Ozzie                   Lynx                   LNX-9Q   3   4
Brendon Bitch                   Raijin         RJN101-A   4   5
Andrew Huggie           Griffin          GRF-3M   3   4

The "Murses"
Again anther lance that is Built around one main long distance weapon. So they can cause damage on the way in before making full use of their close range weapons.

Bat 3 Company 1 Lance 2

Sabrina Peyton   Enforcer III   ENF-6H   2   3
Russell Hillman            Nightsky           NGS-6T   4   5
Mark Peyton           Enforcer III   ENF-6H   3   4
Ciarian Downey   Nightsky           NGS-6T   4   4

To meet the enemy up close and Personal like. The Success of the two Nightskys from the command Lance has called for a repeat of the tactic. These lack TSM for the moment.  But The Enforcers UAC20 more than makes up the additional Close range Punch. Again this lance enjoys the "We shoot that Guy. While kicking this guy!" Tactic.
Also Mark Peyton is such a bugger he is attempting to take back a Slur against the The Fed suns People.

Just so Folks are aware of who's taking them down.

Nick Whyte   Clint              Eastwood   3 5
Andrew Rainey   Cicada                   CDA-3F   4 4
Jamie Lee Curtis   Hellspawn   HSN-7D   4 5
Mama Whyte   Griffin               GRF-3M   4 4

Again the Clint has been upgraded with a Clan PPC and Clan MPL. And the extra tonnage put into armour.
The Hellspawn Tends to carry a Ton of Thunder in an effort to Herd the enemy into the guns of the rest of the lance.

Bat 3 Company 2 Lance 1.

The Nerd herd.

Nick Carroll           Uziel                  UZL-2RR   3   4
Patrick Ayers           Watchman   WTC-4M   4   5
Lucian Von Doom   Enforcer III   ENF-6T   3   5
Al-X                           Watchman   WTC-4M   3   5
This Company normally finds its duties consisting of Garrison or protecting the Supply lines.
The Nerd herd also contains most of the Rangers Paper pushers.
The Uziel began life as a 2S but has been modified to possess TSM and the Beagle has been switched for an ECM Suite to better suit the defensive nature of the unit.

Bat 3 Company 2 Lance 2

Youri Zoutman    Wolverine   WVR-8K   2   3
Wayne Talbot     Sentry          SNT-04   4   4
Sarah Horracks  Cicada         CDA-3F   3   4
Christian U     Valkyrie        VLK-QD1   3   5

Plenty of PPC Punch from this lance. With Christians Old Valkyrie Chassie has undergone major rehauling in order to keep up with the new crop of Project phoenix mechs. The LRM often surprises foes who expect a lighter slap from his main gun.
But its only through the lack of action that this has been done. As like the rest of second company they don't  tend to see much action on the rear lines.

Bat 3 Company 2 Lance 3

Mark Millar   Enforcer III   ENF-6M   2   3
Micheal Telger   Hunchback   HBK-4SP   3   4
Patrick Ayers   Scorpion           SCP-1N   4   5
Todd Gross   Cobra           CBR-02   3   5

One of the worst supplied units. They are still struggling to get DHS for their mechs. Having been constantly overlooked for rehauls and new equipment but to Millars Smarmy attitude which has succeeded in rubbing most of his fellow rangers up the wrong way. Despite his best efforts his unit only just receives required maintaince each month.

The scorpion has since had the base clipped and been hex mounted.

On the home Stretch
Bat 3 Company 3 Lance 1

John Hendricks            Griffin   GRF-3M   2   3
Colm Mc Grath           Daimyo   DMO-4K   4   5
Sanjay Shahn           Spector   SPR-5F   3   5
Nick Roche          Cicada   CDA-3G   4   5

The Cicada sacrifices some of its firepower for a Beagle giving the lance  a solid EW package When teamed up with the Spectors ECM.  The lance often use the Less Manoverable Daimyo as bait to lure Attackers down side streets or alleys allowing the rest of the lance a chance to drop in behind then for a quick mugging. So it's not often surprising you see Colm calling out larger mechs before falling back while unleashing a volley of insults as well as firepower.

Bat 3 Company 3 Lance 2

Will Shirley   BeoWulf   BEO-12   3   4
C.B Guy           Jackal   JA-KL-55   4   5
Moe Sislack   Locust    LCT-5M   4   5
Barney Rubble   Locust    LCT-5M   4   5

This lances function is to seek out the enemy then report back. The main weapon they are packing is speed.
The Beowulf and Locust search while the Jackal keeps em covered. And when they meet a target that too hard for them. They are outta there. Its targeting computer making sure the shots hit when needed.
They are often employed to flush out Hidden units to allow the rest of the company to take them out.

Forgive me for not noticing this sooner, but it should be quite easy to pick out the Panther from 1st Battalion 2nd Company 1st Lance . . .

. . . the mech has a peculiar walk, and the pilot has a fruit bat named Eric.   ;)

One lance to go in the 3rd?  Please close with a 3-battalion shot, possibly in formation?

Well done,
JB

I may have borrowed a name or two over the unit.
The normal sounding names you don't recognize are all Mates of some shape or form.

That's the plan for the big Finish.
But won't get a chance to do it till Wednesday as the Camera gone Awol till then.
Or I might get one of the professionals in the group to take them with their ones.

And I am done.

Bat 3 Company 3 Lance 3

Martin Sweeney   Venom   SDR-9KA   3   5
Denny Crane           Wasp   WSP-3S   3   5
Nick Thompson        Hellspawn   HSN-7D   4   4
Oliver Shelby        Firestarter   FS9-H   4   4

A harasser lance. Their mission profile is to work their way into the enemy formation and force a halt to the advance.
Again the Hellspawn carries Thunder rounds to help herd the enemy forces. It also adds a nice punch to those expecting a light recon unit.

Company shot.

I am going to do a regimental shot later this week. One of the Professional lads has offered his camera which is far superior to mine.
But yeah all Done.
Just in time for Field Report Davion to let me know We've been Wiped out.
But fear not. We shall return as The 2nd Robinson Stykers soon.

Don't see too many Jackels around...that one looks good.

I figured it was a nice teammate for the Beowulf.
