Has anyone taken the time to create a nice stable of minions, masters, characters, and weirdos?  I've got a lot of work to do and anything I can crib would be mahvelous.  (We need an RS: AtoW NPCs document)
Alas poor Photobucket. I knew him Horatio, a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy.

Alas, I do not, but it would be a fantastic idea to start a  character database, both for NPCs as well as character arechtypes (ie. more basic characters like the examples in the end of the character creation chapter), and record sheets would also be fantastic.

Strangely enough, I'm working on some of these so far.  I've only got two at the moment, but I've got some free time at work every so often that I can smash one out in around 20 minutes...

Got anything specific you'd like to see in an NPC?

For now I'm trying to build out the masses of thugs and soldiers.  You know, some have one specialization or another, but no names.

I'll work on names shortly.  Hmm, we should have some kind of standard table/code like what HMP or SSW puts out.  I made a fillable character sheet, but a pile of pdfs obviously won't work.

I thought I'd get things going by posting the generic Thug in the GM section of the book and solicit various flavors of the usual "pistol fodder" you use to fill out encounters, random or otherwise.

This is just the same guy, tweaked so he doesn't outclass my players whose small arms skills range around 1-3.  He's also spectacularly stupid.  True pistol fodder for on-the-fly encounters.

Between the Beta and idle fancy, I've got a couple of hundred characters floating around.  Are you looking for anything in particular?

Post a few that strike you for others' benefit.  It would be good to see what other people come up with.  Personally, I need some shady Comstar people, Yakuza, oafish Battalion/Company commanders, riff-raff protesters, and general man-in-the-street types.  But I'd love to see anything.  I think it'd be a good resource to have up.  Kind of like the unit design forums.

An Ice Hellion Mechwarrior turned Pirate Queen built for a possible campaign in my Jihad AU.  She is very high-powered and meant to be the "end boss" for the campaign.  She leads a demi-company (or Binary as she insists on calling it) of pirates, Dark Caste and scum scraped up from the bottom of the Periphery on devastating raids against the Clan OZ, primarily the Hell's Horses and Jade Falcons.  Although some of these raids are to grab supplies for her unit and herself, most are pure terror attacks designed to get revenge on the surats who betrayed and wiped out her Clan.  However, what started out as a quest for vengeance has now become a genuine enjoyment of the pirate lifestyle, and if she lives long enough, she could develop the following and connections to become a real thorn in the side of the Invading Clans.

I'll try to get some up Sunday as it's suppossedly a day off.  I'm on a gig training an OK NG unit getting ready to head to Afghanistan and am pulling long days with obscenely early rise/to bed times.  In fact, I should already have been in bed 90 minutes ago and it's not even 9 pm.  :'(

Ivan Wilhelm Chang
AGE: 16
AFF: Chaos March

Ivan is a living embodiment of the tragic contradictions of the Chaos March
An orphan born and raised in conflict, Ivan now uses his gift for languages
to serve as an embedded interpreter.

Ivan is a young, highly likeable, confident, street smart kid, but
occasionally exposure to the horrors of war triggers behaviour in him that
shows that no one who grows up in the tumult of the Chaos March is truely undamaged.

Kevin Ortiz
AGE: 40
AFF: FS/Capellan March

Character Synopsis: The character Greogory House from the tv show House M.D. cast as a Mech Commander instead of a doctor

Character History:  As a young subaltern, Kevin Ortiz was caught up in the tumult as the FedCom Civil War raged on New Syrtis.  Serving as a rookie mechwarior in the Kathil CMM, Ortiz was critically wounded during the unit's destruction.  Despite a months-long recovery, severe nerve damage prevented Ortiz from regaining full use of his left leg.  Unable to pass the physical certification for mechwarriors, Ortiz was reassigned as a MechCommander, a slot he has filled throughout the Jihad.

Ortiz exists in a constant state of pain due to the neural damage he suffered, and it is only with the aid of strong doses of painkillers that he is able to function.  Ortiz is constantly at war with the regiment's Chief Medicla Officer who wants to bust Ortiz for his painkilelr addiction.  Ortiz oly remains in the service due to the patronage of his comamnding officer who is willing to overlook Ortiz's addiction because he considers Ortiz to be one of the best MechCommanders of all time.  This patronage is ever teneous as the constant pain and depression have made Ortiz extremely caustic.

Hmmm... I might be able to post my archive of characters. There's two problems though...

#1: They're all based on the 5000 XP creation system with -500 negative option.

#2: I'd need some time to convert everything to be pretty. Most of my chars are scribbed in a gaming notebook. Yea... I still use pen and paper. :(

Rather than waste either of our time, here's two examples of what the end result would look like. If you're fine with that, I can do some more. If not: you at least got two freebies. ;)

None of that's a problem.  I just came up with a few characters based on the TLAR principle: That Looks About Right.  So XP doesn't necessarily matter.  And obviously formatting isn't an issue if I'm already manually writing code on the board.  No big deal sir.  Post away.
