Saxonian Tech and Command Doctrine thread.
« on: 04 March 2024, 13:02:38 »
Overview: the Saxony Republic is a periphery nation that is still a relatively young one only coming into existence in the 3070s. Obtaining a copy of both new Dallas and helm memory cores. they were making strides in technology over time but at a slower pace than their draconic counterparts. Favouring medium to assault class vehicles and medium aerospace fighters as well as light VTOLS and light and medium Battle mechs. they use a mixture of unmanned vehicular warfare and true combined arms. With the discovery in 3081 of a database with unmanned systems on it they begun investigating into the use of unmanned battle mechs and combat vehicles for augmentation with manned units. Coming up with their own models of Smart Robotic Control systems and later in the dark age era their own version of the drone operating system. they decided to use these to bolster the numbers of active mechanized units while manpower was still at a premium.

Technology: Most of Saxony Republics technology is developed in house and usually at a slower pace than their combine counterparts. Most of their current tech outside of unmanned systems is helm database derived but that don't mean they are expanding out to other inner sphere technologies like the hyper velocity autocannon series for example. Though a good portion of their SRAF is made up of unmanned units. Manned units are still present though technologically speaking they focus on quality over quantity. Rumor has it they are taking steps to develop their own versions of clanspec equipment.

Combat Vehicles: These along with ASF branch are where most of the robotic and unmanned units are located. Making use of Disposable or semi-disposable models as a base for the designs Unmanned combat vehicle are never designed beyond 40 tons. while manned vehicles are no heavier than 80 tons. this is due to logistical constraints of infrastructure equipment and transport limitations than anything. this is to keep manned units heavy and hard hitting while the lighter unmanned units soak up the majority of enemy fire first.

Mechs: Considered to just another asset of a combined arms force, Battlemech development is still on going as weapons tech of ClanSpec is still in the testing phases. Fortunately no clan powers are within striking distance of the Saxonians. the only ones with interest in such things that are, are the draconis combine. They are also testing omni technology for updating royal manned units to or for special forces use. While standard battle mechs are used by regular forces, manned or unmanned versions.

Aerospace Assets: mainly used for local space defence, ASF assets are typically located in areas with either space for a runway or in camouflaged bases. the reason the combine so far have yet to attack them is due to the fact they are strategically insignificant in the grand schemes of the dragon and the Saxonian's never go on the offensive means they can focus on bigger fish. but the saxonian's knack for finding breadbasket systems is of political interest to the dragon and as of yet there is debate on weather to engage in either military or diplomatic efforts to gain access to some of more valuable resources those systems have such as the Mydon system, the capital of the republic. Dropships and Jump Ships are typically imported from the raven alliance due to a trade agreement between the snow ravens and the Saxonian's despite the former's disdain for the use of robotic or drone units.

recent developments: Some Clanspec equipment is starting to show up within the SRAF's royal units in limited quantities, despite tensions between them and ghost bears of all people. it is very fortunate for the Saxonian's that the dragon stands between the two of them. Though there has been rumours that the Kuritan court is in talks with the Saxonian's to get access to their ClanSpec research, this currently unconfirmed as of 3152. How Far they'll get in terms of technological improvements only time will tell.

And that's that for the Lore of Saxonian Military Technology and this doesn't cover the civilian side of things, Only a snapshot into their inner working so far. Though I might create another post later on covering the industrial side of things and a little bit of their culture for now this thread will only focus on the tech side of things.
