NEW RELEASE: Alpha Strike Commander's Edition
« on: 10 July 2019, 12:49:24 »

COMMAND YOUR DESTINY

In the BattleTech universe there remains one constant: the drums of war. And where there is war, valiant military commanders from the Great Houses, the Clans, and other interstellar nations lead the charge of hulking BattleMechs, brave infantry, and daring aerofighters to certain victory or crushing defeat on the sprawling battlefields of distant worlds. Rally your troops onward into the fray, and surge forth to triumph over the enemy.

Alpha Strike: Commander’s Edition collects into one handy volume the revised fast-play rules from the original Alpha Strike and the expanded rules from Alpha Strike Companion. Take command of large-scale engagements with tabletop-miniatures gameplay designed for the modern wargamer. Use the force-creation rules to marshal your armies, charge them into battle, and either reap the rewards of conquest or taste the bitter pill of defeat. The future of the Inner Sphere is in your hands!

Now available on the Catalyst Game Labs store!

the Aerospace changes sound interesting. i might have to actually start investing in some Aerospace fighters now. before i'd avoided them because they seemed more hassle than i wanted to deal with.

There no Large Aerospace units in this book right? They dropped them? (I've been on the fence getting the book)

All aerospace in ASCE are on the ground map. Drop ships and small craft can be used in ASCE. Warships and jump ships do not because they can’t be in an atmosphere.

How do the changes affect all the alpha strike cards out there?  I'm assuming they're mostly okay, but is there anything I'd have to watch for?

We added JMPS# and JMPW# to note when TMM was lower (or higher) than expected when jumping.  And the same for SUBS# and SUBW# for submersible.
That’s the only changes to the unit cards.

If I did not already have Alpha Strike and the Alpha Strike Companion, I would have snapped this up!

I did skim through it at the LGS and really liked the layout and organization. Nice work, guys!

There is some confusion out there on the price of the book.  Distributors Golden and Alliance are listing the book at $49.99, not the $39.99 printed on the book.

Enjoy!

I also use the hex conversion rules. Very fun, no measuring.

Being new to BT I got this shortly after AGoC, while I like BT as it is just simimlar to PC TBS games, but also I just love the idea of mass combat and AS seems ideal for this. A bit bigger than I expected though  ???

It is a fully realized game system for sure. But don't fret about the size. Battletech's guiding philosophy is to provide lots of rules that you and your compatriots get to pick and choose from. The essentials won't take up that much space and you have room to grow when you want to include, say, infantry, tanks, or bombing runs.

Very fun, no measuring.

That's how I feel, comparing CBT to AS.  I've got some friends that prefer hex-less games, but Personally, I find it less accurate, and it seems like I waste movement maneuvering around obstacles/terrain.   :-\
To me, Repros are 100% Wrong, and there's NO  room for me to give ground on this subject. I'm not just an Immovable Object on this, I'm THE Immovable Object. 3D Prints are just 3D Repros.

Something to bear in Mind. Defending the BT IP is Frowned upon here.

(grumble grumble computer acting up...)

Any chance of maybe cajoling distributors to start stocking the book as well? I've had a devil of a time finding a FLGS or even book store in my area who can even stock it...

I have no idea what form "cajoling" the distributors would take, from a top-down perspective. Meaning, I literally don't know what leverage management has to do something like that, other than it would be a management thing.

Though, I suspect you probably wield more leverage as a customer with money in hand to convince your store to convince their distributor to order it.

They have been stocking it. It just keeps selling out. My FLGS got short-stocked for their first order because of demand and AFAIK its now out of stock again.
