Bulwark?
« on: 08 February 2011, 17:20:53 »
Reading through HBHM again and read the entry on Brooks, Inc.  It mentions a forthcoming Bulwark assault vehicle.  This is the only reference I can recall.  Anyone have any more info?

Probably put on hold after the Jihad started in favor of the Moltke MBT. Andurien has little need for an assault vehicle..

I have wondered about this my self to be honest, I had hoped it would turn up thanks to the MUL (?). There's no more infomation that I know of, more's the pity.

A lot of forthcoming designs got shelved once the Jihad started. The Bulwark simply joins the ranks of the Venturer, Durandal, Yamato, Kaga, Pandarus and other such projects...

Are you saying that from a i/c gaming point of view ?, or a o/c point of view ?. I'm hoping that it will be covered because it's been mentioned in print though I may be living under false hope  :-\ .

Both.

The WarShips were pretty much ended though OOC ideology changes, whereas the cost or difficulty involved in many other projects (Osiris, Chimera, Argus, Thanatos etc) were ditched in favour of getting something, anything into the field. During the Jihad things got so bad they didn't just turn to Succession Wars-era machines, but Primitives, after all...
Mordin Solus: We need a plan to stop them.
John Shepard: We fight or we die. That's the plan.
Ashley Williams: Wow. That's the plan? Is it just me, or did Shepard have better plans before he died?
Urdnot Wrex: Silence! This is the best plan anyone, anywhere has ever had!
Garrus Vakarian: Yes! I AM SO THERE I AM THERE ALREADY!

This. And the scarcity of factories and propensity for most expenditure to go to rebuilding means at best, these projects are put on hold.

From the text, the Bulwark was actually a light tank called an assault vehicle.  Not a weight classification.

My memory is fuzzy, but i recall it just being a few words such as "Brooks is working on the Bulwark Assault Vehicle and will debut it soon". Don't recall any text describing it as a light tank. Besides, isn't that corner of space already swarming with Galleons and Harassers of all kinds to make a new light tank redundant?

Why rely on memory?

"Spread across three worlds, Brooks Incorporated is best known for the Galleon light tank but has also developed several other light combat vehicles such as the Harasser hovertank and the forthcoming Bulwark assault vehicle."

The forthcoming Bulwark assault vehicle is one of "several other light combat vehicles".

Out-Of-Character.

Or in this context essentially out-of-universe.

My HB:HM isn't with me right now. Ahh...thank you...but my read of that sentence was the Harasser is the example given for the "light combat vehicles" while the Bulwark is another different class of design.

Quote : (page 143) : Brooks , Inc (Brooks)
Main Plant Locations: Jojoken (Andurien), Kirin River (Irian), Lakeland
(Kendall)
CEO: Walter Meschini
Main Products (Brooks of Andurien): Galleon and Harasser tanks
Main Products (Brooks of Irian): Galleon, Harasser, Main Gauche and
Stygian tanks
Main Products (Brooks of Kendall): Galleon and Main Gauche tanks
Profile:
Spread across three worlds, Brooks Incorporated is best known
for the Galleon light tank but has also developed several other light
combat vehicles such as the Harasser hovertank and the forthcoming
Bulwark assault vehicle. Components are the largest part of Brooks’
business, especially the StarSlab armor commonly employed on
League ’Mechs (most often as a field upgrade rather than as part of a
new build) and exported to the Magistracy of Canopus and Taurian
Concordat. CEO Meschini is a distant relative of Duchess Humphreys
and is a regular guest at official functions. He has so far attempted
to remain aloof from the friction between Andurien and Atreus,
spending much of his time on Irian or Kendall, though his Anduriennationalist
wife remains a fixture on the Jojoken social circuit.

I hope I have not broken an rules ?.
