Makes you wonder how much drinking went into the selection of names for the units and mechwarriors....

A bit too much of Reed´s Brew, I´m sure...

Tohelet is pronounced "toe-hell-et"; it's the Hebrew word for perseverance.

Just a couple of updates: the first is that this campaign should be resuming in the relatively near future, as my sparring partner Taharqa has finally lucked into some free time with which we can start up our regular MM sessions again. The second is that I've started the extraordinarily laborious process of inserting the Dancers into MekHQ, and when I've finished I will post the campaign file for download so anyone who wants to can look at their inner guts.

This is an impressive amount of work.  The only thing left to do is make your own Grave's Dancers scenario pack with an old school black-border!

Bravo.

Alright, I've finally finished the campaign file (or at least gotten it "up to date", so to speak). Unfortunately, the file is far too large to post as an attachment, apparently. Anyone know any other easy way for me to get it out there?

Alright, I think I've done this properly; can someone with the latest version of MekHQ tell me if this worked?

The latest contract for Graves' Dancers, a VIP extraction mission on Donegal, has just begun. The Dancers have deployed a mixed battalion: a company each from 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battalions. The 'Mech company is made up of Striker, Hunter and Pursuit Lance. The tanks are the new 4th Company. The infantry are 2nd Company, 3rd Battalion. Expect more details and updates in the coming weeks.

Just played the 8th and 9th turns of the latest scenario tonight. Honestly, unless I get pretty lucky, the Dancers are about to get creamed.

Well, the latest mission was wrapped up tonight, and it was a pyrrhic victory for Graves' Dancers. Although the Lyran VIPs they were sent to rescue managed to escape, it was at the cost of three Mechwarriors, six 'Mechs, four tanks (and their crews) and a battlesuit trooper. And although the enemy commander was killed, only a few of their 'Mechs and tanks were destroyed, and what remained of the Dancers was forced to flee the field. I will post the write-up for the aftermath shortly, and then a full update for the main Dancers fluff (history, bios, TO&E, etc) in the near future.

Intercepted transmission:
“…are located near the Nag’s Head Plains. Transponder codes are a 100 percent match. HK Team Omega-4 is en route with orders to exterminate the target.”
“Be advised hostiles are inbound toward target area. Eliminate with extreme prejudice.”
“Understood. ETA four minutes. Inform the Precentor that Code Blue is in effect.”
“Code Blue underway, copy. Good hunting, Shadow One.”

SITUATION
Agro Farm BB-8, Nag’s Head Plains
Donegal, Lyran Alliance
19 April 3070

Even though Donegal has been silent for several months, many in the Alliance held out hope that the system’s HPG had only been knocked offline and that the planet was not “sterilized”—as apparently happened on Alarion. When the LIC got word from an unknown source that a contingent of Very Important People were trying to get off the planet, they jumped at the chance to get some intel. Oh, and those prominent Lyran citizens, too. With the LAAF tied up elsewhere on other important missions, the LIC turned to the mercenary trade. Graves' Dancers is garnering a rep and came highly recommended.

The LIC's orders are simple: go in, get the VIPs and get out. Now.

Oh, by the way—they’re in the badlands with a busted vehicle.

Mission: Click, Click, Boom!
Location: Donegal, Lyran Alliance
Optional Bonuses: Brutality (+500 WP), Cyber-Up (+300 WP)
Outcome: Pyrrhic Victory
Payment: 72,000,000 C-bills

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AFTERMATH
After a brutal ten hours of hide and seek among the rocks and cliffs of the badlands, the remaining Dancers finally manage to exfiltrate—but at a price. And they don’t find it very comforting to know that the Important People the LIC was so hot about saving were just press junkies. Sure, one of them happens to be Ruth Kirkland, CEO of ComPress. But really—rescuing a glorified tri-vid news exec and her overpaid executive staff? So much for the vaunted intel assets of the LIC.

To be fair, you were going up against elite Manei Domini  with full implants and more plasma rifles than you can poke a stick at. Plus the Arrow IV wasn't working. I know I had fun :).

I will re-post the Tersus Per Incendia TO&E shortly and link it.

Merry Christmas, everyone! Just thought I'd let everyone know, as I am often wont to do, that the Dancers are most certainly not dead. My personal life has been a great deal busier these last few months and so I haven't had nearly as much gaming time as I used to, but Taharqa and I have been slowly playing the latest Dancers mission, a raid on Kalidasa. Hopefully we'll be able to wrap it up by some time in January.

It's been a while since the last update, I know. I wrapped up the Kalidasa match a few weeks ago, but then I had a bit of BT-writer's block for a while and wasn't able to work up the updates until a few days ago. The newest mission, a distraction raid on Sian, will be starting later tonight. Hopefully I can get an fully updated main post up in the relatively near future, along with a post for the Kalidasa mission.

Entry #8771, Renard Duval's Journal
Kalidasa. Never thought I’d return—leastwise, not with a bunch of mercs. Our contract has us hitting the system in a pinpoint raid, so it’s a standard run for us. With all the contracts we’ve been getting lately, this one seems fairly simple.

That has me worried.

Our target is Precentor Timothy Mayo, newly assigned head of the local Word of Blake HPG garrison force. That alone has us triple-checking every system and warhead—those buggers took down an entire Com Guard command on Tall Trees back in the beginning of this whole mess.

Whatever reason our employer wants this force gone doesn’t matter to us, really. We just want to make sure we can spend our pay. And maybe nab some nice Blakie gear in salvage—if it doesn’t kill us first.

SITUATION
Ennis Weapons Range, Colbert Provincial County
Kalidasa, Blake Protectorate
6 July 3070

A broker going by the name Mr. Askai has come to the Dancers with a lucrative contract. Only a month ago, Kalidasa seceded from the Free Worlds League and went over to the enlarging Word of Blake Protectorate, taking several League militia forces with it. However, much noise has been made among local Leaguers that the planetary government was coerced into secession by the heavy-handed tactics of the local Word of Blake HPG garrison unit. Askai—or whomever he represents—wants the Blakists hammered. Capturing or killing the Precentor would net even more on the contract.

It’s time to hunt some Wobblies.

Mission: Binge, Purge, Flush
Location: Kalidasa, Blake Protectorate
Optional Bonuses: Shorthanded (+500 WP), Elite (+500 WP)
Outcome: Total Defeat
Payment: None

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AFTERMATH
The Word of Blake troops are as fanatical as the propaganda and the newsfeeds show—or don’t. While there may be Blakists out there who are more civil, the troops the Dancers just faced down seemed more like rabid ki-rians on Rage than human beings.

The good news is, the Dancers stared face first into the fire—and came through it alive. After a loss like that, on top of the disaster at Donegal, Colonel Graves has only one thing on his mind: vengeance.

The Blakists want a fight? They've got one.

“Highness, they come as we were told. The Mask has succeeded lately in getting timely intelligence.”

“Indeed, Colonel.”

“Though I must say, it will put a damper on the coming ceremonies. I know the Chancellor ordered fireworks, but of this magnitude?”

“Yes, the ‘Celestial Wisdom’ has allowed his unique sense of humor to arise frequently these days. I must admit, in these things, he seems almost…prescient.”

“Perhaps his time in the dark has truly perfected him. Such foresight bodes well for us, I would imagine.”

“As long as we share the same path, Colonel. Nevertheless, our Capellan friends are threatened, and what kind of betrothed would I be if I allowed my groom to stand alone against these thrice-damned Blakists?”

SITUATION
Beilin, South of the Forbidden City
Sian, Capellan Confederation
13 September 3070

The mysterious Mr. Askai has returned with yet another lucrative deal. This one’s a doozy: assist the Suns in an all-out assault on Sian. Retribution, Graves figures, for the way the Capellans humiliated Duke George Hasek. Only a few mercenary forces have been selected for this “honor,” mainly as fast-strike forces to hit secondary targets. The Dancers receive assurances that a sizeable naval force will draw most of the aerospace defenses to facilitate their combat drop, but that’s all their employer is saying. Once they’ve destroyed their target, the extraction zone coordinates will be transmitted and a Free Capella transport will spirit them away during the main assault.

Riiiiiiight.

It all sounds well and good, but Colonel Graves calls in some massive favors to guarantee his men won’t end up in a Cappie prison. A little inflation goes a long way—and in cases like this, splitting the revenue with other mercs isn’t all that bad. They can't spend the dough if they’re dead.

Mission: Celestial Calamity
Location: Sian, Capellan Confederation
Optional Bonuses: Hurricane (+800 WP)
Outcome: Total Victory
Payment: 164,000,000 C-bills

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AFTERMATH

Pissed doesn’t begin to describe it. Bad intel? How about the fact that a crystal eight ball would have given more reliable intel than those damn Feddies? Not to mention that the only forces the Dancers saw hitting Sian were unmarked, which meant their “allies” could’ve been anyone out there. FedSuns, League, Taurians—hell, even the Blakists!

All the Dancers know is that when they landed, nothing was where it was supposed to be and the place was crawling with Canopian and Death Commando troops. Yeah, the Dancers kept them from reinforcing wherever they were going, but the Dragon’s Breath bought it. So much for favors. At least they shielded some of Graves' boys and girls from getting smeared all over the planet’s surface.

Mr. Askai offered an apology for the poor intelligence. Not much solace there, though that big fat bonus he gave the Dancers helped ease just a bit the anger Colonel Graves felt like venting on him. Okay, so he took care of the Dancers, but the Colonel can’t help feeling something’s not right. It’s almost like he’s got a chip on his shoulder against mercs. Or maybe he just doesn’t like the way Graves looks.

Well, at least with the gigantic wad he dropped into the unit's account, they can rest a bit before tearing back into their next target.

WORD OF BLAKE RETURNS TO SIAN!
*** Breaking News! ***

“This is Kim Soo Li reporting live from an underground location. Six days ago, a massive invasion force comprised of three Blakist Militia divisions and supported by two WarShips launched a surprise assault against Sian at the peak of celebrations marking the return of our valiant troops from the war against Duke Hasek. Indeed, their arrival was so sudden that, had it not been for the efforts of our own naval forces, the situation here in the capital would surely have spun out of control within hours of the first volleys.

“Instead, the newly modified Feng Huang-class heavy cruisers, Ilsa Hyung and Aleisha Kris, together with two Impavido-class destroyers, engaged both Blakist WarShips while a massive fighter screen deployed by the Feng Huangs dealt with the enemy’s inbound DropShips. As of this report, at least one Blakist heavy cruiser was reportedly destroyed, with the other either crippled or driven off. No word on the damage done to our own vessels has yet been released.

“Elements from two Blakist divisions—tentatively designated as the Seventeenth and Twenty-fourth—survived to land on Sian. Both initiated a massive attack on the Forbidden City and its outlying areas, but the gallant efforts of the Red Lancers and Warrior House Imarra kept Sian from falling.

“According to field reports, one of the Blakist divisions surrounded the capital in an attempt to crush the Lancers, while the other cut a swath of destruction through every city and town within a hundred kilometers of the capital, and the battle became a bloody stalemate for a time.

“Twenty-four hours ago, the surprise arrival of the Blackwind Lancers turned the tide against the Blakists. Apparently returning to their Capellan roots, the renegade Lancers executed a combat drop directly atop the Blakists’ southern front and drove for the heart of the capital, where Blackwind commander Warner Doles reportedly led his command directly to the main government building to personally rescue the Chancellor.

“With the arrival of the Free Capellan forces, the Red Lancers and House Imarra appear to have finally shattered the Blakists’ siege. Two hours ago, I’m told, the last of the surviving Blakist units lifted, leaving a devastated but free Sian in their wake.

“For CBS news, I’m Kim Soo Li.”

In the last few weeks the Dancers have begun a planetary assault campaign, against the Grim Determination on Sheratan. So far two battles have taken place, write-ups for which I intend to post later tonight. Before that, though, I'll also finally put up the updated Field Manual: Graves' Dancers, as I've begun to call it.

Alright, instead of doing this the hard way and spending a bunch of time formatting a full on series of posts for the FM, I'm just gonna post it as a collected trio of the master Word docs instead. This is the unit as of the completion of the latest two battles on Sheratan, with the main history and TO&E. I've also included the "Miscellaneous Info" sheet, which tracks things like unit Quirks, the kill-board for vee crews and infantry, and the list of unmanned/uncrewed units. The Bios doc, unfortunately, is too big of a file to attach thanks to the portraits so I'll post them up the old-fashioned way soon enough.

*blows off the dust*

Well, I suppose it's about time I made some sort of update here. My life has gotten considerably busier lately which has left me less time for Battletech in recent weeks, but I certainly plan to continue the Dancers' campaign. They're currently in the midst of a rather large battle against Grim Determination; once that mini-campaign is completed, I'll post a new series of updates.

Good to see you doing some housework "cough, cough".
Now that you've removed the dust, we will see the Crazy's doing their thing. O0
