Overview
A special production run of the original CON-1 Carbine, the CON-2 Carbine was designed to have the added flexibiltiy of functioning in airless or toxic environments, and to appeal to buyers who would prefer to spend a bit more up front to avoid having to spend more on fuel over the lifetime of the ConstructionMech.

Capabilities
Utilizing the ubiquitos 120-rating GM fusion engine used so commonly in the Wasp and Stinger series of BattleMechs, the CON-2 has a ready supply of parts available for its engine, thanks to the centuries of production of these BattleMechs.  The fusion reactor pack, when replacing the heavier ICE engine, freed up 4 tons of mass on the Carbine, allowing Bluth Industries to seal the Carbine against environmental hazards.

After sealing the Carbine, Bluth engineers found they still had a ton of mass free on the CON-2, and chose to fit an attachment point for a nail or rivet gun next to the lift hoist, with limited traverse, allowing the CON-2 to hold parts with the hoist while simultaneously fitting them into place.

Bluth Engineering also offered a variaiton on the CON-2, dubbed the CON-2W, which replaced the backhoe with a spot welder, while retaining the nail/rivet gun mount.  Engineers had hoped to duplicate the modularity of the Jabberwocky and later Mercury, but had been unable to do so before the technology was lost in the Succession Wars.

Deployment
Unfortunately, the deprivation of the Succession Wars rendered continued production of the COM-2 impossible, especially given the high destruction rate and, thus, demand for, light scout BattleMechs.  Bluth's more conventionally-powered CON-series Carbines were still able to remain in production, and the CON-2 was eventually forgotten to the dustbin of history, outside of ComStar usage.
