When we can expect printed version of BMM and TRO:SW? PDF is nice but for playing I prefer paper version.

The Spotlight On and Touring the Stars series are still being produced, right? Not affected by the Combat Manuals or ilClan reworking, right?

And TRO: IrregularTech is still coming? (please say yes, please say yes)

Ray just answered Touring the Stars two posts above yours:

Yup.

I can't say when they will be orderable online, but I can tell you that at least some quantity already exist in print. I bought a hard-copy version of both of these at GenCon. No idea if those were part of some sort of small print run just to have on-hand at GenCon though.

I hope that physical copies on GenCon were part of first batch of printed versions and we get these to buy online this year.

Generally non-exclusive books that are for sale at GenCon get a retail release within a couple of months, but until CGL issues a street date, nothing is set in stone)

(for the record, I don't think there were any exclusive books this year, though apparently the Legends anthology won't be getting a retail release till next year)

For me this is definetly true. I grew up with the videogames and the tv show. but I would not be working on battletech today if it wasen't for MWO's improved mech designs.
And i definetly would refuse to work for battletech if i had to "sculpt" those terrible 1980's designs. but i'm glad that some of my favorites are getting a modernized redesign.

Catalyst has been doing a great job upping BT's art game for a while, and I'll be glad if a face lift helps to bring in some new players.

I'm a huge fan of some of many of the recent redesigns, and I expect to love more in the future, but I also dislike a few of the MWO re-imaginings, no matter how much the art shows better technical skill.

All that said, Stinger, you have been doing some great stuff for the line, and I don't want to pick on you, but I still feel the need to remark on yet another thread full of people  telling my that my personal sense of aesthetics is objectively wrong. Woo.

Maybe you have an example? I agree on some MWO designs that they often look "samey", but many older designs (Loose) give me that "Well, I know whats going on behind those odd armor plate and lines, but I wont tell you" feeling. The MWO designs have a clear language give me the impressions that these could be actual Battlemech designs that would work in combat situations and that have a clear purpose. While the Cigar of a Hauptmann just looks ridiculous comic like. ANd lets not talk about these batwing ears ::). All imho.

Sure, its a bit silly . . . but there are real machines that have such little quirks to anthropomorphize them- its a usually humanoid walking tank after all!- and IMO it adds a bit of style . . . and the desire to find a merc with one who goes by 'Hannibal' to drive it.

True that. Honestly (and no slight to the other artists intended) it seems that everything Anthony Scroggins has touched lately he's turned into awesome. Not Awesomes (at least till we fans see the finished work on that redesign, and that will probably be an Awesome2) though that would be... y'know...  ;)

I havent started on the Commando yet, and the Awesome isn't even redesigned yet. but the commando's new design is pretty cool :)

As for the Catapult and Shadowhawk (this is a different model than the one ironwind made) this will be revealed sooner than you might think :P stay tuned

This leads me to several questions:
1. does that mean that all IWM minis will be different from those in the starter box?
2. are those minis made by different artists?
3. How/in which way are the looks altered from one another?
4. My better half and I compared my SHadowhawk from IWM with the one on those pictures in this thread and she said that the plastic Shad would look beefier that the metall one. COuld that be? Or is this due to different lenses/cameras used?

Do not like Sumo Dragon  >:(

That is my go-to example, and precise complaint.

The MWO Dragon is a much better piece of technical work than the old TRO 3025 sketch. It is more detailed, more finished, and a better 2D realization of a 3D object.

Unfortunately, I really don't like the proportioning of the thing. It really looks like a ponderous sumo wrestler, not a tank that runs into battle at upwards of 70kph. Is my opinion popular? I don't think so; most people seem to like it, but like/dislike is subjective.

It's actually a common feeling that I have for MWO art. I love nearly every detail, and every technical element, but they are sometimes assembled into a whole that I do not care for. (proportioning mostly.) That doesn't make the art bad, but I don't think it makes my subjective opinion "wrong" either.
