Need Design Help With This Loki
« on: 21 April 2018, 01:08:33 »
Due to a packaging error, I have ended up with a mis-matched Loki.  I ordered a Loki Prime, and got everything but the torso.  I ended up with the torso of the Loki C.  I ordered it several months ago and only now opened it, so I didn't want to bother IWM with it (plus they'd already replaced one mech from the order already).  Yes, it can proxy in for anything, but I would like to have an actual design for it that matches the look for playing in Classic BT.  So, for all you variant builders out there, what can I do with this guy?  I don't own the Tech Manual, so I don't have the rules to do my own build.  Hit me with your best shot folks!

(and mods, if this belongs somewhere else, please put where it belongs by all means)

The J - two ERLLs, one in each arm; LB-20X in the torso with 2 tons ammo, surmounted by an AMS. The two small ports on the left torso can be a pair of ERSLs, but I prefer a light TAG & light Active Probe.

Or you can go balls to the wall, and replace the ERLLs with Heavy Large Lasers. But then there's little to do while closing.

Or finally, replace the ERLLs with Plasma Cannons, and a ton of ammo each. I'd probably scrap the SSRM (easily removed) and AMS to fit jump jets.

Oh that does look nice.   Can't wait to see some paint on it.

Valkerie...for my online store, I had the exact reverse issue. I had several Loki C variants with Prime torsos. I may still have one if you want it, no charge for the Torso...just pay the shipping (or make an order & I'll toss it in for free). Shoot me a PM if you do & I'll take a look when the kids aren't trying to tie me to the nearest tree! Just can't remember where I put it! hahaha

Thank you very much for the offer there sir.  I am going to keep it as is, so the prime torso won't be necessary.  I can see how the mistake can be made though.  I was working with that one for 20 minutes before I noticed the difference.  And even then, only because I'd opened the second Loki prime I got on that order.  Shows how observant I was... ::)

Probably going to be awhile before it sees paint (at the back of the que).  When the time comes though, it will be in Jade Falcon colors  8) .  Don't know which galaxy yet though.

I think I would go a little differently...ER large laser in each arm along with a double heat sink in each (15 total), 2 improved medium lasers in the LT, a clan RAC-5 and SRM-6 in the RT (1 ton SRM ammo, and 3 tons RAC ammo in the LT with the medium lasers), and an ECM suite in the CT...

I dig this. I would use the hell out of this. (As it is, I rarely deploy Hellbringers unless they're in the 'D' config. Screen name aside, it's just a very tough Mech to love, but using it against non-Mech forces helps a ton.)

Or mix things up with a Heavy Gauss. Keep the two ERMLs, add a no-frills SRM-6 to the CT, an HML on each arm, and an extra heat sink to keep things cool while alpha-striking.

Can't wait to see it painted.  :)

I'd much rather have IS Plasma Rifles .. that's nasty.

Me? I'd pull that missile rack off, add a couple small gun barrels underneath the laser cluster, and call it a stock Loki II-A, with the pilot having chosen to mirror-swap the torso guns.

pull the missile box off and call it the G config..
IS Improved heavy Gauss in the RT
improved heavy large laser in the LA
3x ERSL in the RA

even better, this is a canon config!
