I have to lean toward the pic of the Warhawk on the losing end of an Atlas’s fist.

REMINDER TO KEEP IMAGE SIZES REASONABLE.

Come on guys, if your image is big, resize it or link to it. Not everyone has high-speed available to them.

Didn't someone paint the Atlas from that too?  'Big Ben' is a fun name for a Atlas.  I also think the Warhawk is not in Clan hands.

First image that comes to mind is almost always the Marauder on the original 3025 TRO.  Second image would be the Warhammer on the second edition boxed set.  The Locust on the Crescent Hawks Inception computer game box might be third (there's a Stalker in the background, which never appears in the game, sadly enough).

Oddly, it was the CHI game that introduced me to the BT universe, but I still think of the Marauder as the most iconic image.

This is true for me as well.  I was big into Robotech so seeing those images worked really well for me.

The 2nd Edition box set drew me in with its iconic Warhammer, but I think the image that cemented the "Battletech" look for me was probably the 1st edition Battleforce box cover.

No question for me.

Behind the glass counter holding the cash register at Endgames in Clackamas Town Square, 1985:

Love at first sight.
I like this image that was recreated using the Hammerhands instead. It was an excellent homage to the game while avoiding the use of the Unseen. It is cleaner and has more background detail.

Except I have to wonder what is being fired from the torso? Is there a Hammerhands variant with energy weapons there while retaining the SRM's?

...but seriously, the Battledroids/BattleTech 2e/3e cover has my vote.

it's a very loosely interpreted value of "arm-mounted"

Why was the BLR-4S Beemer picked as the new face of CBT?

D.R.T. = Diminutive Red Thong.  ^-^

OK, ok. Seriously though, for me it's probably the cover to the second Compendium (The Rules of Warfare), with the bluish-grey Mad Cat in front of the starfield. That was always a very evocative image for me when I was really getting hardcore into the game, and it pains me that it's one of the books I lost in flooding several years ago.

Yeah, I forgot they looked a bit different b/c I was thinking of my Mad Cat Mk II 4 mini and then checked the Sarna image.

As far as the Battlemaster . . . it started with FanPro & when it became CBT?  Might have had to do with MWDA had a Mad Cat type image and used the Atlas a lot.

I always liked the upward-canted launchers. When a Battlemech has its cockpit in the head most of the time, and the head tends to be on top of many designs, having missiles arcing downward seems like a pretty big advantage (in-universe, obviously, not by Battletech rules). It also helped differentiate it from its smaller cousin at a distance.

For me, the two that spring out is the one with the atlas on the cover, and the warhammer..

The atlas painting that was on the cover of the '96 catalogue

I have a poster of it.

Somewhere.

I've been looking for the last two years.

Can't find it on the web, either.

Same image drew me in, but now it's the sexiness of the Hammerhands.

Was it the cover of the 4th Edition;

I think it is this.  Not only was it on the box set, it was on the mini packages as well, so if you saw Battletech for a long time, you saw this image.

No doubt it is the Timberwolf in almost any instantiations. Mechwarrior 2's cover image was iconic for the universe, especially for those unfamiliar with Battletech.

B1BFlyer created a diorama based on the card for a contest at LOTB back in 2005, and I've seen pics of it elsewhere since. I thought it was on Camospecs, but I can't find it. The LOTB gallery is hobbled, but you can still view it here.
