Curious, history ( like back in Crescent Hawks ) has an Awesome in the unit... why not use one?

Either 10KM or 11M, both slow, yes, but both provide firepower... and if you gave a better gunner, you could run for the most part, allowing you to keep the heat on at any range.

Just saying, after all walk - 3-2-3 was the old motto for an Awesome advancing back in the day.

...fast brawler lance...

...this group is far too small to have a dedicated fire support unit.

This suggestion is a bit far out, but how about the GST-90 Ghost? It's got Merc/Pirate availability only, but the Ghost itself has to be pretty common in League space and it'd be pretty easy to justify the Regulans having one.

Chainsaw for muh melee aesthetics, dual LPLs for some anti-light 'Mech firepower, and it can keep up with everything else in the lance.
Ain't the best 'Mech out there, but hey, it works.

Yeah, I always liked fielding the MWDA mini . . .

Of course, IF you do it you should get a chainsaw wav file on your phone, and when it melees tap whatever to set the sound going.

"My Ghost needs a 6 TH with the chainsaw . . " *taps button, high revving chainsaw sound while rolling* . . . "and it connects!"

So out of curiosity, what's everyone's favourite FWLM (and related) paint job? For me it's the Marik Militia, which is about as iconicly FWLM as it gets. Though I'm also fond of the Covenant Guards.

(Also as a side note, I can't think of any non-FWLM units that use purple)

there's something about the short-lived Haematite Guard schemes on camospecs that caught my eye

Third regiment added to the Protectorate Guard sometime between FM: Fwl and FM update (3058-3067) Iirc most of the protectorate guard went over to the wobbies. The Haematite guard was confirmed as destroyed during the jihad in FM: 3085

So out of curiosity, what's everyone's favourite FWLM (and related) paint job? For me it's the Marik Militia, which is about as iconicly FWLM as it gets. Though I'm also fond of the Covenant Guards.

It used to be the Marik Militia for me as well, and I had upwards of a Battalion before I lost them all in a house fire almost two years ago. But speaking of...the COVIDening turned out to be the perfect time to start Operation: Backlog, where I'm trying to slam out all of my unpainted minis before the Kickstarter ships. And what better way to do so than to do them up in some less common FWL schemes?

For my Andurien Rangers, I decided to do the green highlights in a pinstripe pattern as a throwback to the Defenders of Andurien. Since it's such a generic scheme, I guess I can run them as 3rd FWL Legionnaires as well.

Next up, the Rim Commonality Guards. Not a bad scheme.

9th Regulan Hussars. Decided to do things differently here - figured that the individualistic Regulans might use their own variations of the purple/orange-brown scheme, with higher amounts of purple representing greater loyalty to the Federal government. Also added in the yellow from the 1st Hussars to break the scheme up a bit.

Silver Hawk Irregulars. These were a blast to paint and I think I'm gonna make at least a full company + conventional assets for them.

2nd Sirian Lancers. Decided to use bronze as the metallic color to try to take away from the whole Christmas theme they've got going on. Worked well IMO.

Loyalty Defenders. Never doing this one again, ever. Red trim on canary yellow is an exercise in frustration.

(Also as a side note, I can't think of any non-FWLM units that use purple)

The Bolan Provincial Militias use a hardcore copy of the Protectorate Guard schemes, which must have lead to some wicked confusing battles during the Succession Wars.

Yeah, some CAV thing. Gonna run it as a Longbow in most games. The other CAV thing in the Sirian Lancers is gonna be a stand-in for a Warhammer.

It's a CAV Tiamat. Basically, it's a big mech with quad LRM-20s, though the game mechanics are closer to mech mortars. If it were an inch shorter, I'd buy them by the bushel and use them as Yeoman proxies. :smitten:

Trim the legs. Easy to do.

And for unit schemes, I'm very fond of the Atrean Dragoons, and the 40th Marik Militia.

I've seen your 40th, and they look rad.
Has anyone ever done one of the Marik Protector schemes (before they switched back to the traditional Militia getup), or the Tamarind-styled Marik Militia variation?

I did make a list of them. Problem is, I'm just about dry on new minis - prety much all I have is dedicated to planned projects - and while I did make a recent buy of about 60, they're all Alpha Strike plastics.

Which I love, and which I deeply enjoy modding;, don't get me wrong. But for the Protectors, you really need some more modern designs thrown in. But Sirian Lancers may get a gursney with those minis.
