I can do $25

Waving money at my computer screen probably isn't going to help. Where does one go to help this project?

Post in here. Somebody will keep a running tally on money promised and then it will be collected via PayPal and sent in one lump to the sculptor so they can work their magic. Some time after that you'll be sent an iron wind metals voucher for the amount you pledged. You can use the voucher to order things from iron wind metals' website and online store.
-
I'll throw in
$50 $100 for now.
-
I'm in for $50
-
I was planning on buying some LAMs from the webstore this month anyway
$150

Ah, I see. I'm sure I can afford to pledge $100 that I likely would have spent on minis anyway :D
-
already up to $425, over halfway there.
-
I'll go in for $50
-
$25.00, here.
Mike
-
i'm in for $25.
-
I'm down for $100. Muh Cave Lion needs a friend!
-
$625 total so far. $175 more to go.
-
Put me down for $50 I'm looking forward to this beast!
-
I will pledge 50 as well.
-
I can contribute US$25 and I can volunteer to be the Lead Fundicator again if nobody else wants the job.
-
Thanks Feenix that would ROCK!
-
No problems B-3, my pleasure to make a small contribution to the BT community and give back to IWM who have been wonderfully helpful and supportive of me.
-
50 to go.
-
Ok screw it, I'll tack on $50 more ($150 total pledge from me).
That takes us over the line. I can't do the amalgamation though, so if someone else can do that, then we are all good.

Good news. Looks like Feenix already volunteered to be our resident scholar and gentlemen for this particular effort O0
-
Affirmative, I have the con.
I will start sending PMs with instructions over the Easter weekend.
-
By my count we have pledges equalling the funding target of US$800. The pledged fundicators are:
faithless - $25
RoundTop - $50 $100 $150
Lorcan Nagle - $50
Sartris - $150
Tai Dai Cultist - $100
ph423r - $50
The Wayfarer - $25
Spaceman - $25
sadlerbw - $100
Spenetrator - $50
beachhead1985 - $50
Feenix74 - $25
If I have got this list wrong or missed any pledges please advise ASAP. As noted previously, I will start sending PMs to the fundicators over the Easter long weekend.
For those who have fundicated before, welcome back! You know the drill and we will be doing it by the numbers again.
For new fundicators, welcome to the club! We will try to make this a simple and smooth process. The PMs will include instructions on how to make payment and the details that I will require to send to speck so that he can issue you with your IWM webstore credit vouchers. I will post irregular updates on where we are at on the admin side of the process here in this thread. IAMCLANWOLF, B-3 and speck may also choose to post updates on the creative and production sides of the process here as well. Please note, that there can be a short delay on the issue of the credit vouchers, speck can be busy at times trying to keep the IWM website/store running properly but I will continue to politely pester him until he does it.
Thank you for your support and co-operation O0

Will this mech be aviable to buy via Iron Winds? Or do I need to fund it?
-
Will this mech be aviable to buy via Iron Winds? Or do I need to fund it?
It will be available to anyone. The fundicators simply get to turn their cash into IWM store credit, with the added benefit of getting a new mini in a few months :)
-
Cool! Thanks for info. So as I understand we now wait few months for the mini to be created, right? Also is there any chance that any variant loadout for this mech will appear? (I mean in record sheets, not mini parts)
-
Considering the factory was destroyed shortly after production started, I highly doubt it. It didn't even rate an entry in TRO 3145 or TRO 3150. It was relegated to a footnote in a historical book.
-
I applaud the successful fundication of another sculpt! O0
[applause]
-
There was some talk of funding some Battlearmour or other, was there not? fit three in this quarter?
-
the Black Wolf battle armor squeaked out third place in this poll over a handful of other contenders but I think IWM was only planning on the top two from the start this time around... unless they add another because we've been so well-behaved? O:-)
-
PMs with payment details and other instructions have been sent to all Fundicators.
Four Fundicators have even reported making payment shortly after receipt of the PM - thanks guys you are making my life as Lead Fundicator much less stressful O0
-
Hi everybody! Please use the "send money to friends and family" option to avoid Paypal fees and please send US currency. I will refund the transactions that have used standard payment method and £GBP. :D
-
Just to reiterate what B-3 has said, if you use the standard PayPal "pay seller" transaction, PayPal will charge B-3 a transaction fee which will leave him out of pocket for the privilege of sculpting for us. Please use the "send money to friends/family" transaction which should be free for you US-based fundicators and will see PayPal charge a small fee to us overseas-based fundicators.
Also if you insist on send GBP or Euros then I will happily take the amount you have pledged and just send on the amounts in USD that B-3 requires (consider the rest an overseas transaction fee ;) ). However I will not be able to perform this "service" for transactions in Dinars or Dong ;)
-
My foreign transaction fee on 150 usd was about $6 from Canada.
-
Yep, at least I can pretend that it is costing PayPal a lot to ferry the electrons from one side of the Pacific Ocean to the other. :(
-

I am a huge supporter of more Battle armor, especially the Black Wolf, so if IWM is willing to open a third slot for that cause, I would gladly lend my support. Maybe doing the occasional 2 mechs and 1 "other unit type" pole would be a good ideal to keep BA and other vehicles from having to directly compete with mechs.
-
Fundication update:
- all Fundicators have reported in
- majority of Fundicators have made payment
- one payment to be redone as B-3 prefers portraits of dead presidents not the queen's portrait
- three Fundicators (including me) have committed to making payment in the coming weeks
Once the final payments have been confirmed, I will forward all the Fundicator details to speck for him to arrange for IWM webstore credits to be issued. Thanks to all the Fundicators for making my job easy so far. So now we wait patiently for IAMCLANWOLF to post some nice ortho drawings [drool]
-
In the process of moving to a new house. Hope to get started on orthos in the next couple of days.
Bacon-echo looks like it'll be a lot of fun to draw up. Looking forward to getting started asap.

YES.

I keep wanting to call it the bakaneko (Idiot Cat) rather than bakeneko (Changed Cat), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakeneko (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakeneko). :)

It was my understanding that they cut it back from 3 to 2 to make things easier on B-3. As I recall, the idea when they brought the FF Program back last year was to have 1 poll per Quarter, with 3 minis done per Quarter. We got 6 for the entire year. :-\ Personally, I'd rather have a Definite 8 than only 6 out of 12. As far as a "Top 2 'Mechs and Top 1 'other' " Poll goes, I'm up for that, IF B-3 can manage. O0 But that is between him and IWM.
-
IWM has required the limit on FF projects because of their production limitations.

This is an amazing new piece of information that I intend to apply liberally.

You know, something like this isn't a terrible idea. This may not be the best thread for it, but I think this idea, or a modified form of it...IWM has required the limit on FF projects because of their production limitations.
Bearing this in mind, would be a profitable idea.

Queen to Dead president conversion complete.
Sorry guys, Rookie fundicator error. :D

haven't had this much fun drawing up orthis in... well, maybe ever? such a cool machine.

Cheers and thanks for the update, Spenetrator. No worries, all us "olds and bolds" were rookies once . . .

Thx, B. Have fun with her!

Very cool orthos!
This should look very nice in metal.
-
Sweet!
-
Looking forward to getting my hands on a couple of these bad boys!
-
Can I make one request? If there's going to be an integrated base, can it be separate from the feet and legs? I fully intend to pose one jumping and it'll make it a hell of a lot easier!
-
SOP is no attached base.

Huzzah!
Now, if you guys could just figure out how to package about 8 hours of spare time in the blister, I'd be golden. ;)

something tells me that would substantially raise the MSRP of minis...
-
I never liked the art... until now... Justin, your work is top notch! O0 O0
-
Thanks, sir. I wasn't really feeling it either. At least not initially, but the fundicators must have somehow been channeling all their excitement. Once I started, I had a lot of fun with it. Happy you like the orthos... [cheers]
-
A friendly reminder has been sent to the fundicator who has yet to advise me that funds have been sent to B-3.
-
All fundicators have reported sending payment to B-3. Thanks to all for making my fundicator wrangling duties stress-free and simple.
I am awaiting one set of details from a fundicator before I send all fundicator details to speck for him to issue IWM webstore credits.
Now we get to patiently wait for B-3 to post some pics of the master sculpt when he has time and approval to make them public.
-
Final set of fundicator details have been received. B-3 has confirmed receipt of all funds. All fundicator details sent to speck for issue of IWM webstore credit.
Actually, the final set of fundicator details has been with me for a couple of days but I have not had the chance to draft the PM to speck with all the fundicator details until this morning.
Once again thanks to all for making my fundicator wrangling dutiess low-stress and simple.
I understand from B-3 that he has started sculpting the master and should have something to show to the QCC soon. Hopefully, we will all get a sneak peak at the master sculpt once it has been approved by the QCC.
-
Awesome work Feenix.
-
This looks great! ANy word on how we're doing the next round? Vote again, or just take pledges for the next most popular subjects?
-
So it has been a couple weeks since fundicator stuff went to Speck. Anyone heard anything about the credits yet? Looks like the Dragoon took about a month for it to hit IWM accounts.
(I want to get my IWM order placed so I can have some things for gen con ready.)
-
I do not believe that the IWM webstore credit has been issued yet. I will give speck a polite bump.
Speck - bump :)
-
I know you can't rush art, but any word on how the sculpting is going? Has sculpting begun/finished/awaiting blood-sacrifices to the appropriate muse for inspiration? Any particular challenges with this little guy so far? It looks like the right arm might have my old nemesis: tiny little cylinders that no adult-sized finger can grasp! But maybe they will be integral or one big piece like on the Legionnaire this time? Any updates are appreciated!

Credit will get sent out here in a few days. Been busy with some other things recently.

Sculpting has not begun on this yet.

Thanks for the update speck! O0

In fact I have started on this one I just don't have anything worth sharing at this point. To be honest I have started a new job as a custom jewelry designer at a jewelry store in Dayton and it has sucked my face off learning the ropes. I have been working on the Bakeneko as I have had time to and still have a life. In the future I will only have time to sculpt Fan Financed projects. Please be patient with me while I completely rearrange my life. :D
-
No Sweat B3, You can't rush art!

I'm looking forward to this... I've got an order all ready for checkout... just waiting for the credit to knock some of the price off :D

Speck? Poke poke.
-
Speck? Poke poke.
Going to do this on Sunday.
-
Credit vouchers have been emailed out to everyone who helped fund the mech.
-
Got mine! Thanks to everyone who pitched in and made this work!
-
Received. Thanks, Speck
-
Confirmed I got my store credit too. Looking forward to the Bakeneko's release!
-
Thanks Speck. and order submitted. :)
-
Received and many thanks speck!
Once again thanks to all the fundicators for their participation in this fan fundication effort and your patience. Hopefully we will see the Bakeneko available for purchase in the near future.
-
Any indication what the next step is for FF? When we're moving on to the next item from the poll?
-
Any indication what the next step is for FF? When we're moving on to the next item from the poll?
The two items from this round have already been funded. Most likely nothing new for a few months until at least con season is over.
-
Shucks, that's kinda disappointing. Well, I waited how many years, I can wait more for a little pause.
-
Well, I couldn't wait. I already spent all my credit (and then some!) Guess I will have to dig up some new money when these actually come out.
Speaking of which, how is the work going on this little guy? B3 still swamped at his new job? Con season bring everything else to a grinding halt? Any info is appreciated.
-
Hi everybody!
I just wanted to check in and let you know I'm not dead. I'm feeling mostly dead but not completely dead. My new job had been steadily consuming my soul and choking the life from my body, mostly because I have to wear a tie...UGH! Anyhoo, I have been working on this Mech as much as time has permitted. Please disregard the pewter parts protruding from the bottom of the torso they are just what's left of the Mech I used as the armature.
(http://i773.photobucket.com/albums/yy11/ysgryphon/th_Balenkenko.jpg) (http://s773.photobucket.com/user/ysgryphon/media/Balenkenko.jpg.html)
The leg and hips are mostly done the torso is pretty far along the arms heed and jet pack are pretty far along just need a bit o detailing.
Cheers!
-
Looking good!
-
That's looking awesome.
B-3, have you ever done a write-up of your sculpting process? I'm super curious how you're getting such clean and crisp details.
-
Very Interesting. I think this one is going to work out nicely!
Laid on their side like that, the legs look pretty big compared to the arms and torso, but I'm guessing they are fairly narrow from the front. Regardless, the detailing looks nice and they do match up well with the art. So in short, looking good!
-
What's the status on this sculpt?
-
I finally got the time to sit down at my workbench and sculpt on this one! It's going well so far, I hope to be done with it tomorrow...
-
Thanks for the update Berhle, hopefully the new job is settling down and no longer consuming so much of your soul.
-
My new job is getting busier the closer we get to the holidays, our custom design department (three people) produced 45 custom jobs last month and we're looking at 60 this month...😰 it's pretty challenging but exciting work and the toys are awesome in the workshop!
-
Always good to be busy than to be not busy :)
That is an impressive throughput of custom designed jewelry for a small workshop. Hopefully when thinks slow down a bit after the holidays you might find some time to do some more Battletech commissions for IWM in the new year.
-

Sweet. Looking forward to seeing the final. Also, glad the new gig is treating you well. Take care, Behrle.
-
OK, down to a few minor details and this one is in the bag! I still need to finish the waist and shoulder joints, the attachment points for the jet packs and mold the leg and jet pack and cast and make left and right ones. :D
-

I love that making a mold and casting a leg is a minor detail.
On a serious note, your joints are easy to work with, give an impressive range of motion, and are easy to assemble. As a customer I appreciate that, as an amateur I want to emulate that.
-
OK here it is finally... 44mm tall, 8 pieces, 2 legs, 2 arms, torso n head, hips, 2 jump jets.

Why do I have this terrible desire to buy one when it becomes available and paint a devil and an angel, one on each shoulder . . .

Worth the wait. Nicely done!
I think I would like to see one with the angel and devil on each shoulder.

If you mean the announcement of the Q1 2017 minis...Speck just said it yesterday in a post finally and will be updating the release schedule on their website soon.

Just a FYI, this mini is now for sale (http://ironwindmetals.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=16_234&products_id=9477). I figured everyone waited long enough for it so I am posting it now for sale. Image will be up on the store soon.
