Identify The Terrain #2
« on: 17 March 2020, 09:39:30 »
Did this once before, I liked the challenge and it gave me ideas of things to grab for making more terrain. So . . . here is another terrain picture, if you can identify the bits in the picture!  Heck, if you can link to what the bits are or where they came from even better (if forum rules allow)

First and easiest one to me is the 'pillars' the platforms rest on are curlers like I remember my mother & sisters having when I was a teenager.  I am not sure they are even made any more, but now I want to go to dollar store and see if I can find them (or maybe the wife has some old ones, never see her using them).

The top of the two buildings are take out containers, I am not sure if they are top or bottoms BUT I think tops, painted over and with some detail work done on the exterior.  The one on the left has some thing attached to get rid of a flat space, and the one on the right looks like it has bars of some sort.  It might be pretty easy to cut out the flat portion of a container like that, build a grid, paint it, and then put the clear plastic portion back on top.

The left tower looks like it has plastic clothespins with the spring removed and the two parts separated attached to the die of some cylinder.

The drill looks like it was home made, a screw put at the 'bottom' of a funnel or cone?

the three "things" on the outside of the right tower look like handles of single-use-razors.

Good catch, I have not messed with one of those in years.  I also imagine they would be good to use for sensor dishes as support/ribs if you used the attachment area to 'point' for a antennae on the dish.

The cone on the drill could be something like a flashlight cone-

Still trying to figure out what the sticks w/ paddles on them could be from.

Too thin I think, they are at the top of the tower to the left and perhaps bracing on the one on the right.

Okay, that makes sense!  Now I am going to have to tell the wife to take those from Starbucks or wherever she goes.  I was wondering if they were some sort of art supply for mixing high end oil paints or such.

Yeah, I've seen them before, but can't remember where.

You could also try Cocktail Sticks, and there is a Thingiverse one:

The roof parts might not be from take out .
The tops of the two containers look like the bowls that come with
microwaveable Yakisoba noodle meals -with some details added on top .
I think it may have been Maruchan or Nissan .

I remember the seasoning packet and veggies were separate packets.

If it was Maruchan the new packages may not be exactly the same .
I saved some of them for a project but I have no idea where they are now .

The rooftops look like the containers that fresh mushrooms come in here in Canada, found at Safeway, Sobeys, etc.

The roofs of the two buildings look like containeers for fruit or from a frozen microwave dinner.

Plastic card glued to toothpicks or skewers will look the same, and will be easier to source.
